Ok, first of all, use pararaphs next time, please. Second, not everything you say is true.Companys like ADV films and funimation are run by people who love anime. Hell, even the president of ADV films, matt greenfield, said that he knows that steel angel kurumi sucks and he does not know why the fudge it is popular, but hey, it sells. Also, even if they do like anime, they are a company, and they have the [expletive] right to make [expletive] money. They need the money because they have familes to support. Also, having anime more mainstearm has been a great thing and a bad thing. The good thing is we are getting a lot better titles like Fullmeatl Alchemist, Naruto, Rurouni Kenshin, Hellsing Berserk,Trigun, X/1999,Ghost in the shell:stand alone complex ,and Hikaru no go. The dubs have gotten better, we are getting more anime stuff, more manga, and fudge, now we have our own channel.
The bad thing, however, is that we are geeting a lot of newbies, who, don't care about the art and story telling aspect of anime. THey only care that it is the current cool thing, and they think they are cool by "being into it". I mean, I love noobies to anime. More anime fans is a good thing. I just don't want anime fans who are not real fans, but who, in reality, are just posers and sheep.

...Wha? I'm not following. Your grammar or your logic is completely disjointed, one or the other. Or both...

Actually, I seem to recall anime being all about money well before it got big over here. Ratings, merchandise, do you really think the producers didn't take these things into serious account?
Also, don't even start on the whole "AMEIRCA R TEH WORLD MONEY DEATHPIGS!" thing, okay? We aren't the only capitalist country in the world...in fact, I'd say Japan's even worse about cashing in on things than we are. When was the last time you saw eyedrops based on an anime series here in the States, eh?

I'm afraid I'm not following your fractured and aimless logic here. So...you're saying that because Ninja Resurrection is only two episodes long, ADV are greedy pigs?

So you'd rather revert to the time when the only way anyone in this country could get anime was to either buy $30 dubbed VHS tapes or jump through the 13 Rings of Hell for fansubs? Actually, were you even around back then, or are you just trying to look big by claiming you were?
Also...money...yeah, I think Japan was cashing in on those two franchises long before we ever were, 'kay?
/\/EWT wrote: | think about ,,the companys who imported the shows didn't think they were cool are well written but thought hey....pokemon with 100's of monsters..we can then have kids go crazy 4 the cards.,toys etc...now i know nippon(JAPAN) invented the cards but...they worked threw millions of manga and anime 2 get there while america just jumped in when the money was being made..not when art and story telling was being showed... |
Huh? Dude, Pokemon was a commercial whore in JAPAN, as well! It was never once about "the art and sophistication!"

Where? What series? Can you provide examples to back up your claim?

Wow...just wow. Never seen that happen before... Do you have something against the words to/too/two and for/four? Also you might want to get a dictionary next time you post.

*blinks*
Newt, I request that you read "Eats, Shoots, And Leaves" immediately. Take the lessons to heart, and perhaps I might be able to understand what you're saying.
That said, to the topic!
Anime has always been about the fans. Anime fans run the anime companies, and amazingly manage to please both hardcore and newbies. Take the "Tokyo Mew Mew" for example. Companies changes name, fans complain, company compromises. I garuntee you had it been another genre of entertainment, we would have gotten the "screw you" effect.
But in order for the companies to survive, they've gotta make profit, and a large profit at that. I don't mind buying expensive DVDs because I understand what it takes to make the series, and what it takes for the company to stay afloat. Unlike other genres of entertainment, Anime comanies have to buy rights to distribute, actors and translators to bring the English to the series (note: yes, I'm a dub fans. Subs are great, but I like English too.), and not everyone has your taste in anime.
example: I, believe or not, actually -like- Ikki Tousen (Battle Vixens). From what I saw on fansub, I actually got into the series (the first part sucks, but as it goes on, it gets really good, in my opinion). So just because one customer doesn't like it, does not mean the next customer will dislike it as well.
Well, there's my two cents. I'll admit though, Nagisa makes one helluva better agrument than I.

So this would be considered spam? If posting statements that are intended to get a negative ruse isn't spam, then I don't know what is.
And I am sure Ninja Ressurection was an OVA/movie thing, no wonder it was only two episodes.

With every Steel Angel and Burn Up (I own both by the way) you get a Kino's Journey, Haibane Renmei, and Texhnolyze. Company's have to put out shows that will make them money. Not everyone is into the deep-thought provoking anime. Just be glad anime creators will take the time to make these shows even though they know there isn't as much profit in them.

Please don't do that ever again. The purpose of this forum is to create and facilitate discussion about anime/manga/etc. If you feel the need to "test" the forum, you can spend the time to read through a few of the other threads. Either take the time to create threads for the purpose of discussion, or your further posts will be deleted.
And since this was apparently a "fake" thread, it's locked.
