As great as the news is, it still sucks that the first film, as well as the tv series, never made it over here. (yes, I realize it is highly unlikely it ever will too)

Have they said if it'll have a brand new score, too? The thought of even mooooooore Macross Frontier albums gives me goosebumps. :3

Was at the noon event. If anyone wants to read my short report, it's here.
Really looking forward to the second movie! spoiler[Hoping that Mikhail won't die again... Kawamori kantoku said that the movie would be different than the series, but we don't know to what extent. I seriously held my breath near the end of the first movie where it seemed like Mikhail met with a very anti-climactic death.]
Yes, there will be new songs. The director hinted at Ranka rising to stardom and collaborating with Sheryl iirc. Btw, there will be a music clip DVD that includes footage from the series, movie, as well as new animation released on December 15. |

Maybe they should publish compete OST from the TV series? Some theme didn't make it to any of the OSTs.

I wouldn't mind seeing even more Kanno Macross music.
Actually, I wanted to post to mention that "Mikhail" is actually "Michel." Alto calls him "Mikhail" as some kind of derogatory nickname, but to everyone else, he's Michel. This seemed to trip up the fansubbers, a lot whom just gave him the name "Michael." |

Poor Mikhail doesn't even have an solid pronunciation, let alone an official romanisation. 'Mikhail', 'Michel' and 'Michael' were all usedby different characters, though the official site uses the ミハエル/Mihaeru pronunciation, so Mikhail seems to fit best. The variability of his name between English, French and Slavic pronunciations is a running gag.

Which is why I use Mikhail, but actually now that I think of it, I have a gachapon cellphone strap of him and it says "Michael" on it. We also know that Japanese people tend to butcher English/foreign languages though. |
