The idea of entertaining all anime lovers is the most important point of any successful anime. Most anime have a hero and he is always on the screen saving everone. This is the basic concept for most anime. Is this what all fans wanna see in a anime?
I would say that in the anime Naruto he is idolized as an idiot and shows sasuke as the hero. This anime features everyone well.
But in Bleach Ichigo goes around smacking everyone and is unbeatable!
But there are a lot of fans for both these animes.
What are the main factors for making an anime successful in India?
Good Story,Powerful Hero,Bad Ass Villains beautiful girl just for the hero.....but is this enough for making an anime in India succesful?
How many people in India write manga or atleast think about making an anime?

I don't suspect you'll find too many people from India on an English board that's mostly full of Americans, Canadians, and British but good luck. Confused

To be fair, most of my Indian friends have never heard of anime. OK, maybe they have heard thet it existed, but never actually watched it. Based on that only I dont know if it is popular in India or not.

Well, many Indians do speak English due to the Brits taking over the country. Never mind involvement in the global and English speaking markets.

Meanwhile, I'm reminded of a few things.

India does have its own comics. I know Virgin Comics got involved with Indian creators and mythology. Noted Indian-American author Deepak Chopra was involved with that.

Plus Buddhism comes from India and you see its tales in a number of anime.

Meanwhile... Speaking of India and anime... Check out this weird religious cult / scam from India with some familiar looking terms and logos...

I think what Kruszer is getting at is the majority of people here most likely are not from India / are not very familiar with what works there for anime.

Also having a hero saving someone is not the basic concept for most anime, it would be the basic concept for most shonen anime. A hero is a key component to a lot of story telling.

Yeah, exactly it's a case of "looking for water in a desert", it's not impossible to find but isn't the best place to look for it if you want to find it. Also yes, I'm aware that English is one of the most widely known languages and that people all over the world speak it, but when was the last time you saw ANN announce an anime acquisition for India? I can't recall any. So the probability of them using this website as news resource and posting on the forums is really quite low unless they're the type to do lots of expensive importing of DVDs.
