I'm not receiving any email from the ANN domain. I've set my profile options to send me a notification when a thread I'm posting in gets a reply, but nothing's getting through. I've spoken to my ISP and they tell me that they are not filtering you. Until I get this figured out I've been using their webmail page rather than downloading to my machine, though to be honest I don't know if that matters much.
I've disabled my spam blockers and added you to all the accepted sites lists and white pages I can find, but nothing seems to be working. I've checked and re-checked my email address in my profile and it is correct. Dunno. This is actually an old problem, when I first registered the confirmation email never arrived. After several tries an admin had to activate my account directly. ANN appears to be the only domain that I have this problem with. My operating system is windows @*$&%!!# vista, browser is IE 8. Any ideas? |

Is your email account from hotmail? I think hotmail has ANN listed as a spam account, which is dumb. I don't get any emails from them either; thank god for the onsite notification for private messages.

I don't use hotmail, my only current email account is with earthlink.
I was wondering if I was the only one who had this problem. Apparently not. |

I'm having this exact same problem. My E-mail is through a local internet provider so not Hotmail. I used to get notifications of PMs and now, nothing.
Actually, is there an E-mail provider that is guaranteed to get notifications from ANN? I'm thinking of getting a new E-mail account. |

Well, ANN isn't on any of the main blocklists:

Sorry for missing this the first time around.
But they are:
So I just wrote an email there and we are now unblocked (but "please allow 2-24 hours for normal email traffic to resume")
That may be so, but Microsoft (hotmail, msn, live...) still has us firmly blocked. We're getting around this issue by routing registration mails through Google, but we can't send any notification mails to these addresses.
I can recommend gmail. We've never had any bouncing from them, and as far as I know they don't bounce any spam, they just send it to the junk folder. The fact that their bounce messages do not include any "blocked due to spam" message seems to support this. A sane policy, IMHO. |

Back when I worked for an ISP I had a conversation with someone on the messaging team about how impossible it was to establish a dialogue with Hotmail.
Looking, there are is least now plenty of information and tools available at http://postmaster.live.com/ |

If you want to receive alerts from ANN on Hotmail, just create a Gmail account and set it up to redirect emails to your Hotmail. If you can't find the option on Gmail's page, just send me a PM.
That's what I do. To filter spam a new shiny account would be ideal, of course. Hotmail is really... weak. I receive a hellish amount of spam, yet stuff I really want is blocked. |

Thanks. You know, when I spoke to their rep he told me that they don't block anybody. Go figure. Tells you how much their reps know, doesn't it? |

Having known a lot of ISP reps from having been one.. absolutely. The old "If in doubt, blag" syndrome.
customer: "The last two people told me something different" Me: ...*facepalm* *tear out hair* |

Customer service ain't what it used to be. It can be irritating sometimes. If the customer service person doesn't know the answer, have the courage to say so. Even better, show some initiative and find it. I would much prefer an honest answer than otherwise. Oh well.
It seems to be working now though, and that's all that really matters. |
