She needs the car to get the beer home (a fridge full of beer is heavy). |

Not trying to prolong what was primarily a joke but, at least Afghanistan's jungle provides me with fresh nutrients, contrarily to the Brazilian tundra where everything is frozen, except for the polar jaguar.

Another one, then back to work.
I recently acquired a set of Battle Athletes and Battle Athletes Victory. I watched it many years ago but didn't own a copy but they were selling them about $2.50/disk (some new and some like new). There's a lot to like about this series, but the opening of Battle Athletes give me a break. You have a future Earth civilization over a 1000 years into the future that owns gravity control technology and has engaged in beam-weapon space battles with aliens. They have tether satellites. Yet to get from surface to orbit is still a multi-stage (disposable lower stages) liquid fuel rocket. The footage is obviously a painted over sequence from NASA -- a Saturn V rocket. You burn one of these to boost three girls into orbit. Oh, well. Still a better show than most and pretty good considering the vintage. And the longer "Victory" retelling is much better than the original but not as much naked girls. |

I'd like to see Misato on that slow, slow diagonal elevator ride down to NERV, with a bunch of shopping bags full of beer. (* This partly because it took me ages to realise that Misato's place was not actually underground (unless it was).) |

Actually, they either fixed this logical misstep in the anime or ignored it but according to Wiki, Sumire (Class President) has "terrible eyesight" which she overcompensates for in her forceful manner. -- why is this important? Astronauts, lke jet pilots, are required to have good eyesight. It's a very basic requirement. |

If you're piloting the craft, yes. But not if you're a mission specialist -- essentially, a scientist along for the ride. - abunai |

Oooooh yeah, I just remember one that bothered me a lot when I watched Gankutsuou:
During the mecha battle with spoiler[The Count and Albert, why didn't they bother to check the identity of the fighters and instead just take for granted that since it was Albert's mecha that he was automatically in it? They didn't even ask them to speak to each other before the match began to reveal it obviously wasn't Albert's voice but instead they started the fight right away. Considering that the Count's desire for revenge was strong against Albert's family but non-existent against Franz's, you'd think he would want to make damn sure he was fighting the right guy regardless if he was getting a little bit crazy at the time, and I still don't think he was crazy enough to have legitimately ignored that crucial step. Not to mention all the witnesses, why didn't any of them ensure the fight was correct?] |

I don't see how this is a problem. Lots of people die every day because of mistaken identity. If you hate someone you don't double check to make sure you've got the right person. You're emotions get in the way. The people who double check their targets are people who don't hate the target. Professional assassins, military, special forces, espionage etc. They are calm enough to understand the consequences of getting it wrong and even they screw up on occasion.spoiler[ No one had any reason to question the identity of the duelers since both were in their armor and prepared to commit to the duel. If it were an internationally recognized sport being observed by an international body then maybe someone would have verified the occupants but an unofficial honor duel? I think not.]

I get what you're saying in one sense, when I went to the library the other I thought I saw my ex, turns out it wasn't but I still avoided the person anyway (He was near the manga section so I approached slowly to determine if it was or wasn't him, once I found out it wasn't, I grabbed a bunch of manga before heading off).
But The Count wasn't trying to ignore him, spoiler[he was going face to face with Albert in a duel, even if it was an unofficial honor duel, the contests obviously knew each other and wanted to face each other, they weren't trying to avoid each other. In the case where they were desperate to fight each other, not checking just seems like a writing cop out to me], so if you ask me, it was a definite lapse of logic. I mean, it'd be like showing up to take a drug test for someone else and they accepted me as the other person because I was wearing a mask with their face on it despite not sounding a thing like the other person and being the wrong height. Even assuming every employee in that place knew the person I was standing in for, if they still accepted me as the other person without hesitation or going "...take off the mask..." I would be amazed. Heck, it could be the right person with their own face mask on and I still bet the employees would ask him/her to take off the mask. |

In Darker Then Black: Ryuusei no Gemini, we know that Shion is approximately 13 years old. This is three years after the events of the first season. Five years before that was when spoiler[Heaven's Gate and the South American impregnable zone first appeared.] This means that Shion was born five years before the spoiler[Gate (and the contractors) appeared.] But wait... Professor Pavlichenko tells Suou that spoiler[Shion was a contractor since birth, when he is explaining to her which of her memories are fake. So Shion was a contractor five years before they even existed?]
Just one of the many inconsistencies I noticed about the series; I have never before been so confused trying to wrap my head around a story. I still thoroughly enjoyed the show, though. |

You are comparing oranges and apples. It is one thing for an official organization to calmly verify the identity of someone for a test. It is another thing for someone filled with rage to carefully check the ID to be sure they are mad at the right person. In my country we are having a bit of a crime wave spurred on by gang rivalry and warfare. The gangs hate each other and there have been several cases where someone is killed because they happened to have borrowed the wrong car or even worn the wrong jacket and the gang member didn't bother to check the person's ID. In some cases the hate was so strong that even when they realized it was the wrong person they killed them anyway. Hate has no logic or reason. There may be a logic or reason to hate but hate itself is rarely rational. Emotions have a habit of short circuiting rational thought.spoiler[ If the Count was thinking rationally he would have realized that Albert not talking or more likely preaching was extremely unusual but at that point he just wanted to hurt someone. ] |

I had a rather recent one in Guin Saga. spoiler[It was when the sem where fighting the mongauls. The sem being primarily ranged fighters engaged the mongauls in what appeared to be a canyon custom made for sniping of an entire army from elevated terrain. They then proceeded to harass the army twice to great effect. And then they .. and this is where it gets interesting. WALK down into the ravine and charge up a freaking bottleneck straight into armored knights and infantry armed with nothing more than a bloody boomerang. All for a nice dramatic charge scene.]

Here's an oldie...
Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro A small logical flaw in the beginning of the movie... (since it's at the very beginning of the film and makes up half of the plot- no spoiler tags) If the counterfeit money is of such a high quality, if no one but those who have seen it before or those with the most trained eye can recognize it as counterfeit, if it's so damn good that Lupin wants to steal the plates that produce the counterfeit money... then why do they throw it all away? |
