Very cool video, but I still think the iPad is one of the most incredibly pointless pieces of technology to come out in years.

I wouldn't say pointless, more of out-of-date tech.

I'd have a tough time doing that with my Intuos4. I can't even imagine trying to do it with an iPad. I'm used to 2000 levels of pressure sensitivity, and I doubt the iPad has a third of that. To be able to accomplish that type of drawing on the iPad is incredible.

Depends on what you use it for. As a visual artist who uses tech whenever I can on an actual project or for just reference, an iPad is pure awesome I can take more places than my laptop, and with more comfort. This makes me wonder if there's a way you can use a stylus with the ipad. |

you can tell he has practiced a lot on that iPad. That was a very cool video though, what does ABe do nowadays? He is only doujin-scene author?

Have you ever heard of a tablet PC? Hmm, no? They're not exactly quite new.
If ANN bothered to explain that ABe drew a character from his latest anime work, Despera, maybe some of their readers would have known. But hey, I guess ANN might not even have known that themselves. |

I feel I should point out that the video was uploaded to Youtube on the 9th and the article says he only received his iPad on the 9th. |

I feel the same way! Some people are underestimating the Ipad and the apparent awesome skills of Yoshitoshi ABE. It seems the iPad is the most awesome Otaku tool out there. You can watch Anime with it (at Crunchyroll) and draw manga too. He's making it look so easy. I'm always amazed at the skills of manga artists. But, to see him take the newly received iPad and create with it that way blows my mind. |

Oh yes, I'm quiet aware that they exist, but finding one under 1k is a hard thing to do. I'm know that an iPad is a new type of tablet pc, slightly more limited, but for the price they're selling at I'm not complaining. As a graphics artist I wouldn't dream of doing everything on an iPad since I have a more powerful machine in desktop/laptop form for my actual "work", but I find an iPad to be a much more comfortable design to do more "simple" things without having to get up and to wherever my computer may be. Yes, I suppose I'm lazy. |

Well, considering they haven't done anything hyping it up since they announced it Summer/Fall of last year, I can forgive people for forgetting about it. Have they even announced when it's going to air? No, I'm not an impatient ABe fanboy at all....... |

ABe posted 2 more iPad drawings on his YouTube channel.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=deLdi-q_ojU&feature=related This one shows a character from a manga he is working on called Ryoshka-Ryoshka which Square Enix is involved in (he links to the site on the video). |

Great talent!
I love this, why not know it early? Though I have collected many iPad apps and games online, some also are very incitant, like this list: http://ifunia.com/ipad-column/10-best-ipad-games-we-can-not-wait-to-play.html hmm, have to admit that, the ipad also really fantastic, Im sucked in it totally! |
