I laughed. "I can feel that her moe level is high" "Not just high...IT'S OVER 9000!!!" Sorry, I couldn't resist. |

There's a more in-depth synopsis of the article here.
That depends on what you mean by "moe." Yeah, I really don't want to start arguing about that either but if I can make a casual observation that the way you're using it (as a proper noun even!) seems to imply it's a genre with defined conventions (and some people do use it as such, like it or not). However, I get the impression (secondhand of course, via the above-linked site) that An-an is defining it more generally as a positive emotional response, not necessarily sexual, towards something or someone. What/who it is seems varies, naturally, but the article discusses some common triggers (glasses/suits I understand, having seen it manifest as a fetish in the BL scene; "Buddha-boy" was new to me, but I can see the appeal I guess). I really wish I could find a direct translation of the article with the accompanying pics & "types." I sorta laughed about the "ideal" numbers for group sizes because so many JE (& other) idol groups fit this to a T-- Don't see too many even-numbered groups besides the duos (KAT-TUN, NewS, & Kanjani8 are all I can think of out of so many others, and they've all had members go disappearing in the past... hmmm...). The "swarm" concept might explain why I find the Crows ZERO movies so entertaining when I don't especially like mindless violence-- maybe it just triggers a moe response in me and I want to tend to all those (fake-) bloody noses... |

I hate to say this, but the writer should've made a detailed summary of that article, not some bits and pieces. I mean if it's an 11 page article, then it doesn't hurt to have at least a half page length summary. Most of us can't read Japanese and won't buy the magazine unless it has pretty (insert your taste here) pictures.
