Japanese Magazine An-An Profiles Moe for Women
posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Not-So-Daily Link of the Day: In the January 20 issue of the weekly women's magazine An-An, there is an 11-page feature on the concept of moe. However, the magazine takes a different point of view, examining moe from the female perspective for a more mainstream Japanese audience.
The article explains that the female moe experience is different from the male moe experience, and states that two of the biggest elements that women consider moe are glasses and suits. The article also describes many different types of men that includes one of these two elements (for example, a man with poor eyesight who sometimes wears glasses). The article also explains relational politics between men and moe, saying that there are specific numbers that men gather in that are ideal for moe: two, three, five, seven, and "swarm." The article also explains that women can feel moe for other women, especially idols and models.
