Will this be another live-action film or an animated one? I remember that there was already a live-action movie based on Tetsujin, not to mention a couple of anime TV series. To be honest, I loved Imagawa's anime remake so much that I can't see any other version topping it, but it'll be cool to see how this turns out.

Are Imagi still making their Gigantor film?

There's an anime movie planned by Imagi called T28 but it's apparently still in planning stage or has been scrapped: http://www.imagius.com/t28/web/index.php

Since the last live-action of his to make it over to R1 was Avalon, I don't think that Imagi has much to worry about from this film.
The T28 website has a character and crew list up now. It prob got a green light imo. The terrorists have nice looking weapons imo. |

If there's anyone who can couple giant metal super heroes with lengthy and nuanced long-takes, I'd fathom Oshii's the man for the job.
Whether Tetsujin 28 fans would appreciate his influences here is perhaps a more debatable question. |

But will it have slow-mo and question the existence of a giant robot-filled post-war Japan?

With long shots of urban scenery with Kenji Kawai music playing over it, perhaps?
I, too, would like to express my enjoyment of the Imagawa version of the show. I am curious as to where Oshii will take it, though. |

Giant Robots = serious [expletive] business Am I wrong to think it's gonna end up like this? |

I don't mind if it does. I loved the first two Patlabor movies. |

I'm curious to see what direction this film could possibly take. Will be a retro style take on the character, or a more modern updated version? I'll be waiting to see, personally I would not mind seeing an updated tale of the series.

I doubt the human experimentation to make a weapon issue that the anime dealt with is going to be done. It's prob going to focus on Black Ox again.

Definitely he'd take the concept to a new level. Having grown up on reruns of 'Gigantor' as a kid in Australia, I'd be more than happy to see Oshii reboot the franchise and give it some greater depth. |

Wait wait wait hold the phone.
Imagawa did more Tetsujin 28 in 2007 and nobody told me? I need this in my life right now. |

You absolutely do. Akira Senju (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood) was the music composer, by the way. |
