Why is Death Note (s) no longer available (cf. animenewsnetwork.com/video/835/#play-1 and the rest) ?

It was supposed to expire only on 2012-11-29. Sad

Works for me. Though mine uses the Hulu stream and not Joost.

Thanks, that might explain it. I'm automatically directed to Joost, perhaps because I'm from Canada.

I don't know if I have a choice to use Hulu instead.

Yes, unfortunately the Joost video has expired. As Joost is currently in an uncertain state, it's not looking good for coming back any time soon. This will be happening to more and more Joost videos.

hulu might someday make content available in Canada, but I don't even think there are solid plans for that at the moment. In the mean time if another site that we're affiliated with picks it up and streams to Canada, we'll do our best to add it.

Of course, ideally Viz would just license to us directly. Be sure to let them know if that's what you want. Wink

There's also the alternative of just getting the DVDs. AdultSwim.com has Death Note archived somewhere.

It seems like Joost pulled some series ahead of their expiration date without telling anyone. I did a sanity check on the series we are currently streaming from Joost, and in addition to Death Note the following were also gone:
- Bleach
- Naruto Shippuden
- Naruto
- Blue Gender

So I removed those streams from our index. Of course this doesn't affect US viewers but it's too bad for the other viewers who were served through Joost Sad

It would be nice if they told us because Joost is one of the only legal ways to watch anime online for various users. Not telling them is essentially disrespectful I think.
