Uh...that's one small step for a virtual idol...one giant leap for otaku-kind? (Someone had to to say it...)

A mere 2km isn't that impressive for a model rocket. However, it appears they're not merely going to pop a Miku figure into a rocket and send it up (they tested that in the video). What that actually appear to be doing is creating a hoard of BlinkenMikus (seen in the video) with self-contained power supplies and accelerometer triggered LEDs, so they start to glow as they fall when deployed at the top of the rocket's trajectory.
