just wondering, sometimes I'll find lists like "Top 100 graphic novels sold in the US 20--" and a lot of the time I don't see manga like Fruits Basket or Air Gear, and I see manga like One Piece and Eyeshield 21, yet Eyeshield never appears on these lists and One Piece only seldom does...
makes no sense, unless the other lists are wrong.

It's not like it wouldn't be physically possible or that they isn't any demand for it, or reasons like that it's because the mangaka didn't like the first series, so that's why. (In case you didn't know, which you could of)

Now that's a pretty selfish reason for not doing a second season or even a remake. Though I'd do the same if I were him, just like my name says.

Well to be fair
A major plot difference between the anime and manga make a second season impossible. As for a remake, I think FMA Brotherhood has proven that fans will never accept a remake.

Not really. They won't accept a remake if it's done badly. There are a lot more people who prefer Hellsing Ultimate than the original series.
I'm sure that if Brotherhood were slightly better paced that it would be better accepted. Not that it's been rejected by most of the fandom, seeing that it still has a medium rating of Excellent on this site.

...and we're all forgetting that in terms of making a sequel/remake/whatever, what fans in Japan want or like is going more important to those involved making the decisions than what non-Japanese fans around the world would like to see done.
I like the Fruits Basket anime. It's funny, touching, and dramatic when it needs to be, and it's something you can watch with little kids (the naughty bits go straight over their head). If they went and did the rest of the story... kid-appropriate goes right out the window. And what's more, the second half, wherein everyone gets an angst-filled back story, loads of emotional baggage, and at least one breakdown, got rather tiresome after a point. It sapped all the joy out of the series. It wasn't necessarily bad, and I appreciated the happy ending, but yes, I like the anime just a little bit better.

Have to agree with Braves, and Hellsing Ultimate is not even a lone example. A substantial majority of fans preferred the Kanon remake over the original series. Brotherhood does offer one thing that most FMA fans want -- that's more FMA -- hate to say it, but to a certain portion of fans just seeing the lovable cast of characters back in action is almost enough in itself to win them over. Thankfully, fans do vary greatly in their expectations in this aspect.

I wouldn't call their tastes bad just because there not as geeky as mine. There just mundane.
