Let the sounds of rejoicing arise! ...thereafter to be replaced by fervent prayer that these movies show in my area.

Awesome. Though I kinda want to read the manga first. But that will take years to get all the volumes out.

I second this!
Pretty please go with Fathom Events again. Traveling 30 minutes is better than travelling into the next state.
*glares at FUNi for not having any Midwest venues for EVA*

My thoughts exactly. I would like to watch these movies, but I'd rather finish the manga first. It's great that Viz has picked them up though.

I loved the first movie and I think everyone should see it. It made me want the manga. I'm so glad these are coming over.

20th Century Boys is my favorite manga and the first movie (the only one I've seen thus far) was excellent. I can't wait to get this on DVD.

Please make the entire trilogy a Fathom Events event, pretty please, I know it won't pull up Death Note movie numbers, but still, a good movie deserves a run on theaters...

Nice to hear that the US is finally getting this. Already seen the 2nd movie (Dad's working on the UK release so we've got a special previw copy), which erm sort of means that when I'm reading the manga I end up picking up on what they decided to leave out for the movies...
Now that this has been announced I wonder if the US or UK will see the 3rd movie released first.

It is licensed; Viz is just sitting on the release, the same they sat on Honey & Clover and Nana. Presumably dubbing it is taking a long time.

Far, far from excellent, the first movie was ok at best. For the amount of material that needed to be crammed into the movie it just felt shallow . If felt like a thin outline of what was an extremely deep manga.
Take Lord of the Rings. Regardless of how much money they cost, lotr had pacing that felt right: it compressed a lot of material into something that flowed like a good movie should.
It is nice that its comin over here but the movie was the opposite of what I wanted; overacted and obviously meant for those who read the manga.
Maybe Spielberg can one day get the quality side of hollywood involved in a quality live action version...but i wont hold my breath

I can't wait to see these movies. 20th Century Boys is my favorite manga and I've heard good things about the movies. Thank you Viz for making my day.

Hell yes! Thank you Viz!
And "later this year"?
Totally awesome! I will have them pre-ordered as soon as they come up.
