Great. Like I want MB to be sued for child porn and have the Supreme Court ignore it like they did the Texas manga case, just so some horny otaku can have an uncut Kite, and defend it as art.

Well, I doubt that it will be the case because the viewer of the DVD will have to wait awhile to get to the scenes... Although I still think the Supreme Court had an obligation to review the Texas case, considering that certain legal and proper standards were not applied.

Naw, while uncut KITE may be oogy, Sawa is at least postpubescent. At least it's not one of those more lurid episodes of CREAM LEMON, or the unsubtly named LOLITA ANIME series ... *twitch*

Miwa: It's still essentially masturbation fodder, regardless of age. Plus the Kill Bill-like violence was lame too.

There's no point releasing the "true" uncut version of KITE, especially if the Japanese DVD release of it was also not the "true" version. If anything, all it is that's cut is under-age kiddy fiddling.
It's milking money, but in the worst possible way because if you were to buy this and the other KITE you're pretty much gonna get braded a pedophile

Well, because of the prior laws done, virtual kiddy porn is no longer considered as such. For that reason, it's now safe to include the "underage" materials as far as I can see. At least the scenes fit the context of the story and show some literary value in the end. There are the purists out there who will buy every version of a title. I don't find much value in doing this myself, but I do understand it from a collector's standpoint. Seeing as that somebody felt the need to walk off with my copy of the directors cut of Kite, the new version is a viable replacement for me to get later.

For a minute there, I was thinking "This has to be something else with the same title, right?"

A DVD release doesn't surprise me that much, and $19.98 SRP does.
I know there's only so low that they can go for a DVD, but I think that $14.99 would have been moe appropriate.

Media Blasters releases their hentai titles under their brand Kitty
Just like Central Park Meida does 9(thru Anime 18 label)
And AD Vision did (or used to do..still dont know if they own their label - SoftCel Pictures)

Three of the titles listed in that article are adult. The two new aquisitions are not.
