If someone out there has heard, or even better seen the English Hellsing manga, could you answer me this?
Did Dark Horse go with Alucard or Arucard? I'm hoping not to start a war with this question as many Hellsing fans have very strong opinions either way. I just want to know which one they decided to go with. |

Looking at the book right now.
Dark Horse went with "Alucard". And to answer another question: they went with "Integra". I love this manga. |

Isn't Alucard the correct spelling anyways since it's Dracula spell backwards (I'm sure everyone knows that by now). ANN listed it as Alucard.
The japanese pronounce arucard because from what I heard, there's no "L" sound, or it's pronounce like "R". So fanboys believe it's spell Arucard which is totally wrong. Last edited by darkhunter on Sat May 15, 2004 4:58 pm; edited 1 time in total |

The 'L' & 'R' sounds in the Japanese language are essentially the same. It's kinda like a half-roll of the tongue, really.
With Alucard, though, there is no such sound in the direct Romanisation of his name. Translated straight from Japanese, it reads more like "A'akaado." |

I am very pleased with everyone finally seeing that "Alucard" is the correct way to write his name. Just recently a fanboy friend of mine tried to flame me for using the L. o.O

I have to agree with you. I actually havn't seen the R spelling for a while now. Wow, it's weird that this topic came back. |
