Don't want to troll, since I'm usually one to embrace title translations, but... it feels like they could have done better with this one, though for the life of me I can't think of anything better.

Eh. Would have preferred any number of other choices, but I guess this came with the package deal.

Looks okay.... my brother would be more interested in this than I though, unless it has something unique to the genre. As it stands right now I've seen this story before, although replace mermaid with selkie, but same concept and idea.

link to what I'm talking about.

People complaining about the title:

How would YOU have made it better? Seriously? It's mentioned that the title is a triple play on words, but how many English speakers would get any of them? Probably just that it matches the characters' family name, but then they wouldn't know what the title meant. My Bride is a Mermaid! conveys the sense of wacky hijinx that the show is all about. It may be a little cheesy, but if you're at all familiar with the show, you'd know that fits perfectly with the series. The only other apropiate descriptor missing is the yakuza aspect, but that's not implied in the original title either.

We all knew this was coming, it was just a matter of time until they announce it. I wonder if they're obligated to grab other GONZO related shows as well (I know this was a collaboration with AIC) like Linebarrels and Rosario.

And like I said in the other thread, I wonder if they're just going to hold onto this licenses for a while as to not flood the hurting market. I'm not sure the "economy affects entertainment" idea applies to anime with its limited fanbase. Sure its escapism, but it comes at a premium. Comic books and movies in the 30's weren't expensive, and that's what brought about the idea of the double feature as well.

Uh, Blastriter. The one that wasn't Tower of Duraga in Round one of Gonzo's postal drop on CR.

The crap one.

The one that couldn't make it's mind up what it's monsters were called.

It has a fanbase, but in this case, the visuals absolutely threw me off of it. I love avant-garde stuff with less than normal animation: Kemonozume, Kaiba, Gankutsuou, but the bad CG in this case is entirely different, it's just hard to watch.

Or any variation of that? Or just leave the title as is.

Special A was nothing special, it would just be obligation at that point. The show got nearly no recognition from what I could see when it was airing, thus limited fanbase.

Never heard of the show before but I'll will have to keep an eye out for it. I'll probably either rent it or if Funi posts a few episodes online which I am sure they will do in the future then I will have to take a look at it.
