I know they've got season sets for Z, but I'm just looking for original Dragonball.

I recently realized that I never watched that show with my full attention past the first season and was wondering what it's status was on DVD. I imagine no one prints it anymore.

Conversely, is it actually easier and cheaper to just get the manga? I've never read any Dragonball manga, there's only 16 volumes, and they still seem to be pretty easy to find.

Sigh. This is gonna suck for you, but currently there are no seasonal sets of DB on Amazon. I have much more respect for the original series than DBZ, so I'd also love to have it on video, but the only thing I found in a search just now was a DVD with the first 13 episodes. Unfortunately, that's about all there is of it. I don't know if FUNi has any plans to release the original show like with DBZ and DBGT, either.

You can import the entire series from Australia (R4, FUNimation dub), but it'll cost quite a bit. The FUNi DVDs have been out of print for a while, which is to be expected because the original series is the least popular in the U.S.

FUNi wants to re-release it, but with the first 13 episodes, which they don't have the license to in R1.

So yeah, get the manga. I finished the series recently and it was pretty good. Though, I really did miss the BGM.

It's cheaper because it's bootleg- don't buy it.

Unlike the original Dragonball, Dragonball Z is very easy to come by- check your local Wal-Mart for the new Funi boxes, or Amazon for the old singles. There's no reason for a bootleg.
