Whenever I try to view a video on ANN, whether it is a trailer or an ANNTV video, I always get the message
"Stream not found: xxx_yq.mp4" (where xxx is the name of the video, and y is either 'h' or 'l'). The video player itself (the thingy with the play/pause/stop buttons etc.) displays just fine, so I'm guessing it's not a basic Flash problem. Stats: Linux 2.6.27 (Ubuntu Jaunty), Firefox 3.0.4, Flash 10.0.12.36 |

That's really weird. We've tested with a lot of different configurations and never had that problem. I even use Ubuntu Hardy for development. It might be related to this issue... Can you tell me what IP address you get for flash.edgecastcdn.net ?

That URL is supposed to give me an IP address? It only gives an empty page (as in, no HTML or text at all).
I've searched for online tests of Flash/MP4 video, but couldn't find much. These examples both work fine though: http://forum.videohelp.com/topic355179.html#example http://movies.fridu.org/html/fulup-progresiv-test-150.html The first seems to be using the JW player you referred to. |

No, that's not it. It happened before I blocked those ads. I just tried again after disabling ABP, and got the same error.

I was also having the problem just a little while ago but now it's working again. Is it also fixed for you Kimiko_0?

No, I still can't get anything from that site you asked about, nor view videos here on ANN.

Kimiko, can you try this link and let me know if it works?
Also, can you try turning off your firewall and/or ad-blocking again and trying the stream from ANN ? Our video streaming service thinks it might be related to one of those. I know you already tried turning the ad-blocking off, but at the time Dan was having a similar problem as you. Since then his problem is gone, and yours remains. Thanks, -t |

That link shows the video player on an otherwise black page. When I click the play button, it shows a nice spinner, spinning.. probably until those proverbial cows come home or something.
Well, at least it didn't tell me the stream wasn't found. That's a small improvement I suppose. Tried turning off ABP, same result. Disabling the ABP plugin entirely, still nothing. What about the firewall? It's part of the modem. I've tried adding forwarding for port numbers 1935 (RTMP), 554 (RTSP), and 1755 (MMS), but that doesn't help either. |

And the videos worked 2 days ago with the exact same setup right ?
Does the video on this page work: animenewsnetwork.com/convention/2008/fansubs-and-industry-panel |

No. I'm not sure they ever worked actually. I never paid much attention to the video tab of the site menu before. I checked them out once, but I think Flash was acting up at the time because I didn't look into the issue then. As you probably know, Flash support for Linux isn't great. It took ages before Adobe would make v8 available for example. V10 seems to be pretty stable for now though. I haven't had a Flash object go blank/grey in a few months.
Same as the previous one. The player only shows the spinner when I click the play button. Sorry to be such a bother If it's really only me the videos refuse to play for I suppose I'll have to live with it. The encyclopedia and forum are great for finding new anime too of course. The trailers would just be a nice addition. |

Very few people take the time to report problems. That is why feedback is so important. Most of the time people will just give up and try to find an alternative solution (in this case look for another website) and ANN is obviously working hard to avoid that at all costs. |

Do you have any other computers on your network? If it works on another PC it would at least definitely rule out a problem with your router's firewall.
