By the way Bamboo, where the hell have you been all these years to never step foot in San Gabriel? As a local SoCal-er, you should have been there the first time you could drive. Any asian (wannabe or not) could tell you to go to LA, San Gabriel, Arcadia, Diamond Bar to eat authentic, better than China, asian food. I dare say, you have a lot of catching up to do, since San Gabriel has more restaurants than days in a year! Laughing

I have no idea how I've never been up there before. However, now that I've gone, I can only do my best to catch up.

That's simply not true. ;p Have you been to China? China will always have better Chinese food than anywhere outside of the country.

I hate to nitpick, but the protagonist of Otoboku is named what?

The protagonist is named Mizuho.

There was (what I only can assume to be) a typo in the article, so I didn't catch that.

Thanks.

So your thinking was slomthing like, "Alright, I can either have all of the anime I have ever wanted or a nice car... I'll take the anime."

Shuten Doji's really not that bad, though I'm probably in the minority on that opinion.

Amazing shelves nonetheless.

It looks like there are too many box sets for each to count as only one Title.

Title will refer to, for example, a particular series or a movie. DVDs will refer the number of discs. This is a common practice for DVD cataloging services, like DVD Aficionado, to provide such a breakdown of stats.

For example let's say you are cataloging the four, as of now, volumes (regular edition to keep things simple) of Hellsing Ultimate...

Title = 1
DVDs = 4

...and both collections for Twelve Kingdoms...

Title = 1
DVDs = 10

...totals for the collection...

Titles = 2
DVDs = 14

This...is beyond the impossible. Now THIS is the biggest collection that I have ever laid my eyes upon!!!

I must say that I didn't even expect to see Soar High! Isami, of all things, on that collection.

It must take a lot of guts (and space Razz) to collect that many box sets. This, esteemed colleagues, is a man to look up to.

Words fail me to elaborate any further... Shocked

well DAY~UM~ his collection is about 4 or 5 times bigger than my DVD collection is (I only just recently started trying to sort it, I haven't gotten my VHS anime figured into the total yet or my handful of VCDs). I'm impressed.

I had thought of that possibility, but the numbers don't seem to work out. For example, the table gives 108 AnimEigo Titles, and 112 AnimeEigo DVDs, but the shelves show several lengthy AnimEigo series, such as You're Under Arrest, Urusei Yatsura, and (it looks like the AnimEigo edition of) Super Dimension Fortress Macross, that under this model would give a greater difference than 4 between numbers of Titles and of DVDs. ANN only gives 43 "Titles" of this form for AnimEigo. Perhaps the assignment of DVDs to Titles is not yet fully implemented for this massive collection.

Good lord, I don't know whether I should be envious or grateful that I don't have that many DVDs.

Very nice shelves, someone who has as many Anime as i do. Smile
I do admit I am jealous of the Boxes for Urusei Yatsura, AnimEigo had stopped offering the boxes when i finally grabbed the series. Doing shelves like that takes a lot of space, though it is great for the photos. Thankfully I have a closest that can hold all of mine. Smile

Great reviews as always Bamboo.

Definitely a nice collection. I don't see many close to mine in size. Based on his disk count he's sitting at about 80% of mine. Definitely worth a round of applause.

I look forward to seeing my own in the column at some point but I need more shelves first. And more walls. I bought more walls for precisely that purpose, but don't have possession of them yet, so no pictures until the new year.

As for the actual column, it's so rare for me not to own a single featured title. I must remedy that. I'll accept votes. Tell me which of the titles in this week's column you think I should own most and I'll tally them up in a couple days and go buy it.

You have an anime collection even bigger than his!? I'm definitely looking forward to seeing it.

What? When did this happen? I think you are still just a little in shock after upping the rating on Otoboku.

It's not hard to do (they are leading mine too at last check.) For a while there, they were kings of the online sale.

I thought Chris (?) of AoD was still reigning champion on here.

Isn't that cheating? Aren't we supposed to use collection count, not discs. A little strange to see Planetes on a top-10 list.

As much as I would like to kick & scream about the lack of an English audio track ... yeah, Emma.
