Anime in Headline News scrawl??

I'm surfing the net and, as I often do, CNN Headline News was on my TV. I'm listening, but not really watching.

I turn my head and what do I see? You know the scrawl at the bottom, which is constantly spitting out headlines, ranging from interesting topics to worthless fluff? Well, it says "Anime DVDs this week:"!

The headline was changing just as I turned my head, so I couldn't read it all, but I saw some reference to "Gunsmith Cats."

I'm amazed that anime has become so mainstream as to make the Headline News scrawl. And as "anime" no less, not "Japanimation", nor do they need to explain what the word means!

So, is ANN going to have competition from CNN? Smile

I think this has been going on for a while. I think someone mentioned this a couple months ago...

But, yeah, it's interesting they specifically show "Anime DVD releases."

First, let's decide whether anime on DVD is an interesting topic, or worthless fluff. ;)

Given the limited amount of space available, it's not surprising that they chose the shortest word without explanation.
