That sounds like quite the line-up. Wish I could go see that. The only problem I'm having is that Urotsukidoji will be playing. They're going to be showing a hentai? I know it's "after dark", but it's still 18+. There's gotta be some way of filtering the audience. At least I hope there is.

I appreciate the line-up of anime masterpieces they are planning to show, although the referential humor in Project A-Ko may be a tad too specific for modern audiences(how many people actually know about Macross, Fist of the North Star and Captain Harlock, for example?), even though they may get the gist of the other jokes.
If you ask me, they may show it last. |

Even with that, it's still rated X. |

It's rated NC-17 not X. TekkonKinkreet was rated R so technically you would have to be 17 to see that also. |

I stand corrected, but my question still fairly sound. I'm very surprised that they would show these in public. I mean, there's so many others they could have gone with. Afterall, 10:30 isn't all that late. |

I don't think it made a difference since it the majority of the audience was over 17 Fri. & Sat. Plus I think they were letting in people under 17 on Fri. |

Well, it would seem to me a very simple matter of ID check at the door, like they do at conventions. At the very least, making the audience aware of the content before the showing would be appropriate. I'm not sure how I feel about the schedule of titles. Some of them seemed appropriate for a public showing of a cross-section of anime, but others are a bit obscure. Project A-Ko is dated (and a little obscure) and Cat Soup is just surreal. There weren't even any shojo anime (I don't count Princess Mononoke as shojo) in the line-up. |

They made an announcement about the content of Urotsukidoji before the showing. They also had flyers at the door with a synopsis and the films rating at the door. They didn't show Project A-ko because of a shipping problem. They showed Interstella 5555 instead. Which was fine by me since I had already seen Project A-ko but had not seen Interstella 5555. They also showed Appleseed Ex Machina instead of Appleseed. The schedule said Appleseed (2004) and listed it as tentative. |
