I'll be happy as long as it is the same resolution. I can live with the one week delay. I will miss having a subfan library though. At least Bleach is still in the run.

I will admit to watching this Fansub group's naruto. (Dont worry, I own all Naruto Box sets to date, I have paid my debts. Heck I still even watch the show on TV.)

However I perfer to do things legally and was planning on watching the official subs when they came out anyway. So I am actually proud of Dattebayo for stepping down. Cool

If Dattebayo subs another series, might I offer some suggestions?

Just check Hulu, it'll be at 480p. I'm excited.

works for me. i never watched the Naruto fansubs, i just read the manga. less groups doing Naruto means more focus on shows that aren't as popular.

in any case, i wonder if they're strong enough to stick to this commitment, especially after their popularity starts dropping.

I was never too impressed with how Dattebayo ran things (or subtitled, but that's another story entirely) but it's good to see them honouring the industry a bit.

It's reassuring to know that at least some fansubbers actually care about the shows.

Nice to someone standing up for old-school fansub ethics.

Good for them.

(°Д°) しん未来を見える。。。なんてね~

I still support FS groups that create awareness and popularity for niche titles, which eventually puts the spotlight on them to be brought here so I can buy them. (My take is: Without the subs, a lot of titles won't come here, let alone grab my interest without my ever being able to see it, and making a $60 DVD purchase off of a cover alone doesn't cut it...) but Naruto grew popular long enough back that this shouldn't have been the first trigger. Dattebayo's almost acting like that villain from Saw by saying "finally you guys have 'learned your lesson' so we'll stop now" as if they have any ethos on their side, lol.

Sort of gives a bad name to other more credible, and better, fansub groups (and yes, I know this is ANN where everyone's a fansub-hating drone, but whatever. There are good things that come out of fansubs after all. Like 1K or so of my spending from stuff I originally watched subbed).

Hmmm...

For some reason, I'll still can't 100% accept this as gospel. I've followed DB's subs for years and in all that time im finding it difficult to remember anything they've said that hasn't actually been a troll.

I can see a "cry wolf" situation arising here..

The only fallacy to that is that if DB didn't sub it, others would. Them dropping it wouldn't have accomplished anything, the show is just too popular.
