I was reading a manga today that had such a scene, and therefore I thought of wanting to share it with everybody. At the end of Saikano volume 2/beginning of volume 3, spoiler[an earthquake happened, but Chise was realizing that she was being summoned, and therefore her weapon programming was going to activate, which would have caused damage where she was at: school. In order to avoid having all her classmates discover the secret that Chise is a military weapon, Shuuji rushed her out of the classroom and somewhere isolated within the school that where nobody would see her. Afterwards, when she leaves with the Defence Guard, Shuuji returns to his classmates and teachers. After the teacher yells at him, his friend Akemi comes up to him and slaps him. He flinches, stares back at her, and SLAPS her back. Everybody is left wondering what just happened, including the reader. And, Akemi starts crying, and Shuuji walks away, and leaves the school grounds.] Total shocker there.

Saikano is just loaded with scenes like that. It's such an amazing manga.

I liked saikano but I wish someone would've told me it was straight romance. The whole series I'm like alright now chise is pissed she's gonna kick some ass great and then they would skip the whole scene. Chise would come back all beat up and shuji would do something that would make me go wow your a horrible person.
