Why create a twnety-six episode Animated series, on a comic six "issues" long (strips more like it), with barely any plot, bad art, and lame jokes? Because according to that release (or another?) it "makes South Park look like Noddy", which is completely un-true.
Expect my life, if barely scribbled, to become a blockbuster from Square-Enix. While I'm not again West-East collaboration, I can't help but think there's a LOT of other things worth doing. |

If this isn't one of those things where a grandiose announcement is made and then nothing ever happens, it's probably because the creator has contacts of some sort. It's not what you know as much as who you know.
Heck, I got my start as a web columnist because I was friends with the guy who started the original Anipike. ------RM |

it seams that larry has some good friends in high places, even the people who did Trigger Happy TV are with him....hopefully there paying madhouse a lot for this because im not buying it, i wonder if the rest of this comics are out somewhere becouse all i can find is some lame story about elements from egypt and having special powers and non-funny, predictable flash art; there are so many (web/flash)artists who are more worthy to work with madhouse than this guy is, no offence to him but from what i see he's not worthy

And now, ready for his own sprawling 100+ episode shonen epic the likes of which the world has never seen, the next truly monumental merchandising phenomeneon, the next uber-kawaii bishonen that all the girls will shriek for.
The Cheat. A collaboration between Hayao Miyazaki, Shirow Masamune, Gainax and Sunrise..... |

Why, Madhouse, why?
"Natural Born Kittens" is pretty endemic of everything that is wrong with internet comics. Distinctly sub-par art, corny, lame humor, and characters that are geared more towards the author's own personal fetishes than an accessible audience. |

Oh my God... that's Natural Born Kittens? I'd never heard of it before... and frankly, that's one of the worst webcomics I've ever seen in my entire life. I am utterly baffled. The art is piss poor, it's not funny (it didn't even make me crack a smile- nothing!), and yes, I agree with Lord Byronius that the characters seem to be there simply because the author probably likes cat girls and massive cleavage. I guess even without talent, if you have the right connections, anything is possible. ... hmm.. hope no one thinks that about me. ^^;

Not much plot, but lots of fan service. Should fit right in then.
But Northwood? Strange? My brother-in law lives in Northwood. Mostly a suburb of rich Conservatives, rich Asians, or overpaid City yuppies. So if these "Catgirls's" are "spoilt tw@s ... I mean brats" of any of the aforementioned categories then they would definitely be running wild else where, either Watford, or Hounslow. Now if you’re looking for weird in West London, try Hounslow, just east of Heathrow down the A312. Scary! |

I'm Larry Bundy.
Creator of NBK and I got to say those comments really hurt. I didn't have all of this delievered to me on a silver platter you know, This has taken years and years of hard work and I've sacrificed pretty much everything for this. I never had any connections, no. When I started on this I dodn't know anyone bar a few UK anime fans and con comittee members. It wasn't accepted on six strips, no program on earth is accepted on just six strips. NBK isn't a webcomic. Theres hundreds of pages of words and artwork involved on this and the only reason that you havn't seen any of this is because of the site is owned by a company who no longer has the rights to NBK so we can't update it for a few months. Also the artwork on the site is poor because it's about four years old. Again the same reason above. It was old when the site went up, I was mad at them for using the old stuff as I knew it would get complained about. Please do not judge NBK on a out of date website thats not that great in the first place and a handful of words. Believe me it's far much better and bigger than all of that. You'll like the final product a lot more! If you do have any questions, do fire away, i'm on th eNBK forum a lot more, so just post them there... www.naturalbornkittens.com/forum PS Great line about Northwood there Mohawk, I'll have to use it someday! But it's more Northwood Hills than Northwood I'd say lol. Labour supporters and poor whites |

No problem mate. Glad you like it You'll have to join the NBk forum or the Anime Artists UK Yahoo group.
It just really upsets me that after years and years of blood and sweat that people dismiss it without even seeing the finished article. Every fan who draws/writes dreams that his work might be taken seriously one day. I just wasn't expecting it to be taken this seriously! But cheers for writing back and letting me know, that was really good of you! |

Definetly, It's been an uphill struggle since day one.
All I can do really now is try to create a good a show as possible and hope people will like it. The fact is even people hate the anime aspect of it, I want them to like it on it's comedy. That they'll find it funny. Out of the six printed strips, I only wrote two. The Catnip one and the bus one (and even that was edited a group of "professional" writers) Old companies reigeme. The site basically is the NBK that never was, Both Corsham and Madhouse much prefer my incarnation of the project and they basically laughed just as much as the forum posters at the version the site portrays. |

Hi Larry, I can see how some of the comments made here might have been a little harsh. Unfortunately the only online pressence for Natural Born Kittens (that readers were made aware of) is a website with six strips and no mention of there being more. So its no surprise that people came to the conclusion that what they saw on naturalbornkittens.com was representative of natural Born Kittens. Personally I was... mildly amused by the 6 strips on the site, but not particularly impressed. I assumed there was more, but had no reason to assume that it would be different. Oh well, its good to hear that there's more, hopefully people will "Like the final product a lot more" as you say. -t |

Thanks for the reply Tempest. In all fairness, the site was never meant to be viewed with the new press releases. I mean the URL was never attached to any of them. It was just a case of people who wanted to look into it looked on search engines and when they found a .com address they obviously put 2 and 2 together. So technically you were never supposed to see it this way. I had some big old arguements with the original owners, one of the final straws was when they got the idea that noone likes anime, it's just a fad into their head and came up with the solution that only the Kittens would retain an anime-style to them and the rest of the cast would have a more stereotypical "Western" look to them. There are a couple of the rejected strips I posted on the NBK forums, (They also hated the idea of having a father-like character in the series also) and both of them had Charlie, The kittens adoptive father in them. Also a slight reference to Metal Gear Solid & Splinter Cell in one of the strips that noones seemed to have noticed. Overall on the plus side, People slagging off the original premise for the show just makes my decision wiser for dumping the original company. If you are an anime fan you will get a kick out of the in-jokes in the series, you'll have to be a hardcore fan to really get all of them. But thanks again for replying T, nice to see someone reply in a fair, non flaming post. |
