I have been having trouble seeing a decent amount of words on things like reviews and articles all over ANN. I keep getting the phrase "__LongTerm__" inserted everwhere in seemingly random places.
For example, from the Astro Boy GN 1+2 review, part of one of the paragraphs looks like this:
"The stories that correspond to volume two are, alas, rather a mixed bag. The case of the robot magician Kino seems to overlap with another popular genre of Japanese manga, that of the gentleman thief, and it is solid. On the other hand, the tale of the first robot president, which like __LongTerm__ Hot Dog __LongTerm__ discussed above, is quite high-minded, boasts a pacifist message that is hard to take too seriously when, just a few chapters later, Astro is eager to __LongTerm__ __LongTerm__ his robot enemies. And the last chapter of the book, titled __LongTerm__ __LongTerm__ comes mighty close to ruining the entire affair"
This happens when I use the Safari browser, but not when I use the Firefox browser, and it appears to be a " and " symbol issue, but I find this weird as I do not see any problems with these symbols on any other websites. I don't remember seeing __LongTerm__ a few months back, and I am using the latest Safari on a MacBook OS X Leopard.

Your installation of Safari seems to behaving trouble with quotes and other non-alpha-numeric characters.
There's nothing advertising or html related that could be doing that. Perhaps Safari wants to see html character codes for those characters.
Is it doing that on any other websites ?

Its not doing it for many, but I did discover it on Bulbapedia (wikipedia for Pokemon). On most other sites and in the forums, it's having no problem seeing quotes.
Bulbapedia is the only other site I'm having this sort of issue with though (at least that I know of).

Might be because of the character encoding we use (unicode / UTF-8), check to make sure that Safari is rendering the page in UTF-8. To do that, click on view -> Text Encoding -> Unicode (UTF-8)

That worked! It was on default before (whatever that may have been), and having looked at the same review again, it was fine after I activated UTF-8. I'm probably not the only Safari user who has been having this problem before (and I have had this computer for about 2 months).
*edit*, ok now things are getting weird. I set Safari's default to UTF-8 now, but I just looked at RTO and got __LongTerm__ in several places. For some reasons, when I looked at Astro Boy 1+2 review again yesterday, it came up fine. And now I am simply confused.

Justin also has this problem and was able to help me find the cause. It's related to Kontera Intelitext. I've contacted them and hope to get it worked out soon
