Hooray for alphabetical order (and having those shelves ... though the newer/larger ones are better because the spacing is fixed.) A lot of familiar titles there ... can never remember that much empty space on them though. Three questions on the collection: (1) Is there a full-sized pic of the first shot? (2) How lucky were you to snag a LE Kanon v5? (3) Would Mike like to step forward and answer the sizing question from two weeks ago (just to settle the curiosity)?
Reviews were interesting too ... if only to emphasize how badly I need to work on my backlog and catch-up with the newer releases. *sigh* Maybe next decade. |

From the info, Claymore's origins sound like Tokko.
So many underaged girls?! Now, if they just keep the same Spanxy chara designs but put in the series bible that they're 17-3/4 yrs old (irregardless of their class in school - just make up a sad story), then all's fair in love and lust.

But Claymore is a lot better than Tokko xD Apart from the fact that the anime completely messed up the ending and therefore I couldn't recommend it to anyone. Read the manga instead v.v Or at least definitely read the manga after finishing the anime. it's worth it.

Clare is actually more of a tomboy-Claymore. If she is the pinnacle, I don't how to call Galatea, Teresa or Flora xD |

This review of Kanon volume 6 makes me scratch my head and wonder at the status of the reviewer's AWOL soul, however, at least least Claymore was well recieved.

After the Negmia review, my brain somehow transformed this part of the sentence to "but their only weapon they have is their breasts." I wish I were lying, but I'm not. |

for Lucky Star thats the wrong cover art because thats the cover art for volume 2 not for volume 3

I'm tempted to quote Wallace saying to Gromit "Well... That went as well as could be expected, didn't it?" When you compare it to the savaging some reviewers have given Kanon, then it's not really all that bad. And anyway, if you've got the other 5 volumes, a less-than-glowing review is hardly going to stop you buying the last one. |

One of these days, I'm going to have to watch Lucky Star, it sounds like a show I'd really love.
...Also, I think my tastes must be similar to Mike's. Not only does he own most of the series I own (and many more that I wish I owned), I noticed he also has one of my favorite movies ever, Beauty and the Beast. (And that chair DOES look comfy...) |

Ah well, I suppose some people might not enjoy the emotional rollercoaster or the moe factor. It is, however, one of my personal favorites and I usually hate moe designs, and depression (which this series has a lot of), not to mention I was previously turned off to Key anime adaptation by watching Air: The Movie before it, so I'm inclined to think that if I can get over it and rate the thing a masterpiece than it's not impossible for other people either. I can't say there's many series that made me both laugh my butt off and cry my eyes out and still spoiler[manage to have masterful upbeat and heartwarming conclusion.] But I won't be too hard on the guy since he at least liked it a bit and the comment I made upthread there was initially intended to be a joke afterall.

I really should get the Invader Zim DVDs. The box shaped like Zim's house is neat (as seen in this week's pics), but international shipping would really bump up the cost (assuming it's still available).
Only have up to volume 4 of the Claymore manga. Wonder if I should catch up first before getting the anime. |

The Claymore anime series runs up to about volume 11 in the manga series and then gives an alternate story line/ending. The manga is still ongiong but the anime had to have an ending so.... You could check out the threads in the anime and manga sections of the forum regarding peoples feelings toward the ending.

I'd say you should simply continue with the manga =/ because the anime is incomplete and the manga continues way beyond it in a completely different direction. Only if you really want to see the characters animated I'd recommend watching the anime. It doesn't really add anything else to the story and even the action scenes later on looked better in the manga imho, as the animation quality of the anime dropped around the middle of the series. |

I think the movie version of Air is best forgotten, like the previous attempt at Kanon. Maybe it's just that Kyoto really hits the spot for me and Toei doesn't.
The strange thing is that not only did the same thing happen to me when I first saw it, but it happens every time I watch it. You'd think because so much of the poignancy relies on the plot twists that I wouldn't be so upset by the n'th rewatch, but for me, knowing in advance just makes it even more poignant. |

Pardon my saying this, but 'ridiculous', 'sick' or 'demented' aren't quite the words I'd use to give Kanon the credit I think it deserves in the final volume. Granted that dabbling in the supernatural is something I tend to dislike, but it felt so natural within the confines of the show itself.
When I remind myself of Ayu's story arc I think of spoiler[Yuichi weeping helplessly in the snow a broken man], or spoiler[an injured Ayu slowly losing consciousness without the young Yuichi realising what's happened] instead of the naturalistic impossiblity of Ayu existing as we see her given her past. It was pure, dramatic ecapism, and I love it as such. |
