Aki Akimoto's hit romantic comedy “Mechanical Marie” is getting an anime adaptation, set to air in Fall 2025! A teaser visual and teaser video have been released, along with the announcement of the lead cast: Nao Tōyama as Marie and Haruki Ishiya as Arthur. Both voice actors have also shared their thoughts in special comments. Additionally, a congratulatory message from the original creator, Aki Akimoto has arrived.

“Mechanical Marie” is a heartfelt romantic comedy about Marie, a former genius martial artist with a stoic demeanor, and Arthur, the heir to a massive conglomerate. Due to certain circumstances, Marie serves Arthur as a “mechanical maid,” despite being human. As she protects Arthur from daily assassination attempts, the story unfolds with both laughter and emotional moments.

The newly revealed key visual features Marie and Arthur side by side, capturing a moment where the human-averse Arthur lowers his guard only around Marie. The teaser video, the first animated footage of the series, shows Marie nervously navigating her days under the premise of “never letting anyone know she's human.”

The main characters' voices have been revealed—Marie will be voiced by Nao Tōyama and Arthur by Haruki Ishiya.

From Nao Tōyama:

From Haruki Ishiya:

"Marie may seem emotionless, but her heart is very human. Arthur, who hides behind a metaphorical mask and cannot trust people, slowly opens up to her. Despite the serious world they live in, the story is portrayed with a vibrant and comical flair thanks to the colorful supporting cast. On playing Arthur:

"Even though it's a comedic role, I want to keep Arthur's core grounded. He has a cool side but also shows adorable sides, especially around Marie. He's full of emotion, changing expressions quickly throughout the episodes. I hope to tap into all my acting range for this role. Personally, I haven't often played this kind of main character before, so I'm really excited."

Marie
A former genius martial artist. She currently serves as the exclusive “mechanical maid” to Arthur, an heir who despises humans. While hiding the fact that she's actually human, she fights daily to protect Arthur from the constant threat of assassins.

Arthur
The heir to a powerful conglomerate. Constantly targeted by assassins due to a fierce inheritance battle, he avoids all human interaction—except with Marie, the “mechanical maid” he trusts. Though clumsy in expressing himself, he deeply adores her.
