This volume scored a bit higher than I would have expected, after reading the preview in Shojo Beat. I don't think I'll be running out to get this one, especially since I have been planning to check out Kitchen Princess.

I (surprisingly) enjoyed this. I have a feeling it's going to get better in future volumes. I was kinda hopeful there would be some recipes, but.... Smile

I liked the first book too (although I thought the translation was a bit rough—anyone else notice that the "strawberries" were actually raspberries?) But this is a very fair analysis. I appreciated certain aspects of the art (interesting clothing/fashion; nicely-drawn hands, crucial to characters who spend time preparing food with their hands) but I can see how it's rather generic as well. Still, the style itself doesn't bother me (this is probably the biggest reason I've so far been holding off on Kitchen Princess despite the good reviews I've read here. Those huge eyes...!) so I don't mind a little generic-ness.

Like FeralKat, I can see this getting better with future volumes. I'm looking forward to volume 2! And yes, recipes would be awesome :D
