Although I'm ashamed to admit it I go to a school where I'm the Otaku.Sure I have a fiend or two who likes manga but it's kinda boring having no one to talk to.I had an idea, taking my small manga collection(and maybe a few friend's) put it in my locker and letting people burrow it for free.My library has no manga,so I thought it may get more people interested in manga.I let my friend burrow Death Note vol.1 and he really liked it,the next day he read evangelion angelic days 1 and 2 and he loved it.I'm going to start letting everyone burrow it soon. The only problem is space.

It anyone else would like to get more people interested in manga and anime I encourage you to do the same.

That's definitely one way to go about introducing people to the medium, though I myself would be rather leery of lending out books of mine to just anybody (no telling the condition I'd receive them back in, for one thing).

With regards to the space issue in your locker, if you decide to implement this you may want to just have a list of series you have available for lending and maybe the first volume or two of some series. It would be a way to start, without having to worry so much about the limited storage space within a locker. You might also want to look into the possibility of buying or making shelves in your locker.

my mom could no longer withstand my stacks and piles in my room so she had my dad build me a shelf. the shelf was nice, but then it eventually overfilled.

*sighs*

Lucky, wish I had a bookshelf. All my manga is stacked on top of my dresser.

Anyways your plan sounds like a good idea but I would be scared to lend manga to strangers. It costs so much and they might damage it.

ypu could always petition for a manga section in your school... not sure if they´ll let you but it may be worth a try Anime hyper
I really wouldn´t lend stuff to people who are not yout friends, if they are acquaintances then they wont care at all about your stuff and if it breaks... then your the one who´ll suffer.

^ I agree. While I didn't have a "service" or anything, I usually loaned anime out to a lot of people I had classes or anime club with. Be aware that loaning stuff out, even to friends, it may not come back in the same condition in which you loaned it out. Also be ware that stuff may not come back. Accidents happen, some people are forgetful, et cetera. It eventually got so bad (people borrowing rarer stuff for extended periods, not coming back in the same condition, etc.), I eventually stopped doing it. That's a policy that still stands, too. I think in the past seven or eight years, I've loaned out one thing (which went on extended vacation though I eventually got it back).

So, it's a good idea to help get people more interested in a hobby you enjoy, just be aware of the negative sides too. Why not recommend titles to people and have them check out the public library branches? Or, were those the libraries you meant in the original post?

Its nice that you want to talk to others about anime, and see if anyone else likes it, but I find some flaws in your plans.
1) I wouldn't loan manga out to people you barely know, especially if they are not your friends. Just like the others said, you won't get them back in the same condition, or they could be gone for a long time, or you'll never get them back.
2) Not everyone likes anime and manga, and not everyone is going to like anime and manga. Sure, the people you mentioned who read Death Note and Evangelion Angelic Days may have enjoyed them, but that doesn't mean everyone else will.
If you wanna make friends, thats great, but you can't get people to like what you like. I'm sure you'll make a friend who likes the same thing you do, and you might make a friend with someone who may not like anime, but they may find you interesting still, and you may find them interesting. I only have one friend who likes anime, the rest of my friends don't, but we still enjoy eachother's company and have fun with eachother.
