So, yeah, hey. I'm a n00b obviously. I was trying to find the appropriate forum to put this thread in, but I...think this is it. If not, please move it to the appropriate place, thanks.
Okay, so, I've been curious about the topic of doujinshi with crossovers lately. Y'know, doujinshi that have characters from two or more series interacting. I guess an example of what I'm talking about would be something like this. Alright, so, just so we're clear, I'm not exactly asking for a download. But a scan or just a description would be nice. And that's about it. |

Well, thanks to the loose Japanese copyright laws and unwritten code between big comic companies and the doujinshi markets, such things are possible. Usually with sexy results. Smutty sexy results. Also, dickgirls. Though really, sex sells and seeing popular characters have sex sells even more, so a good chunk of the market are pornographic. A good other chunk are non sexual parody. And a smaller and yet very vital part are actually original works.
As for crossovers, yeah, they're popular. Crossing over one popular series with another? Of course it's going to get attention. It's an idea that should sell well. Plus if you take the meaning of doujinshi, it really means any and all self published artworks. So all that stuff in Deviant Art is rather a new form of it. Some of it is good original work. Yet most of it is just taking other people's characters and drawing them yourself as if you owned them. I highly question the health of such things. Certainly the American legal system and companies frown on it much more than Japan. Though the Japanese market has some issues with it too. Wired had a fascinating article on the market and the doujinshi markets in particular. I think it gives a good overview of it. http://www.wired.com/techbiz/media/magazine/15-11/ff_manga |

Um, well, I'm not exactly asking about the doujinshi industry. I'm just curious about what kinds of crossover doujinshi exist out there...

Well, not having any examples off the top of my head, I figured I'd supply some background and I just love that article on the doujin market.
Plus, a good number of the popular crossovers I can't post here because of their pornographic nature like I said. Most of the doujinshi you see at cons, as well as ones you can download online (illegally (shh)), are of the pornographic variety. Um.. not that I have any or anything.. Oh yeah. There has been an official, non-doujin crossover between One Piece and Dragon Ball Z called Cross Epoch. |

Well, yeah, it was a good article. Thanks for the link.
I kind of figured that some of those crossovers were from h-doujinshi. Actually, I did stumble onto one or two images of those in a random image search once. And yes, I read 'Cross Epoch' and loved it. That's another example of the kind of crossover in doujinshi I'm looking for, like where characters from two or more series interact. I hope more people reply to this thread with examples. |

For the 30th anniversary of Kochi Kame, a special volume "Chou Kochi Kame" was released, which featured crossover chapters with series as Dragon Ball (where Ryou tries to fine Freeza for a spaceship parking violation) and Golgo 13.

I thought that was something official, though. :O |

Most of the crossover doujinshi I've seen have been more gag-oriented. Like, anything moe + Fist of the North Star (Haruhi, Lucky Star, etc). Or Haruhi + WWII (Haruhitler). Or Death Note + Sunshine Sketch (Hidamari Sketch).
