Today I was flipping the channels and I happen to see the title Fist of the North Star. It was on Fox and it was the live action version. I hope this means that other channels know how popular anime is and are considering putting it on their station. What do you think?

I think it means your local FOX affiliate doesn't feel like putting on infomericals on Sunday afternoon, but puts on the films with the cheapest broadcast rights possible to fill up schedule space when no one is watching, the football season being over until fall.
I doubt they're remotely aware that this film is based on an anime. |

Dunno about that. A lot of places (esp. local stations) will put on the "movie of the weekend" because there are no scheduled sports events and whatnot. I wouldn't count on the whole anime bit meaning much of anything here.
(Dang, Tenchi beat me to it because I'm at work and trying to do both at the same time. ) Last edited by Godaistudios on Sun Feb 29, 2004 2:54 pm; edited 1 time in total |

Wasn't much of a fan of the anime, but you can smell the cheesiness just by looking at that cover.

The movie wasn't that bad but it isnt one of the top 100. It seems like a lot of Live action movies of anime don't do that well.

Speaking of films with cheap broadcast rights, CFCF-12 in Montreal used to do that on Saturday afternoons, and, at one point in the early 1990s, they went fishing for something really cheap to show and reeled in...
...one of the Galaxy Express 999 films, though the ancient dub with the voice of Charles Neilson Reilly, not the dubs done by Viz half a decade later. |
