California's Napa Valley Museum and the Nichi Bei Times newspaper are launching "Manga & Anime: An Exhibition of Popular Cartoon Art" with an opening reception on Friday. Jason Thompson, the Eisner-nominated author of Manga: The Complete Guide, will give a special presentation during the reception. The exhibition in the middle of California's famed "Wine Country" will include artwork from Tak Toyoshima (Secret Asian Man), Deb Aoki (Bento Box), and the winners of Nichi Bei Times' last two annual manga art contests. The exhibition will continue until August 15.
According to this the opening is Aug. 15 not continuing until Aug. 15. Man, makes me wish I could go to California just to go and see this.
Sadly, there was an exhibit like this for anime set up in a museum in a town about an hour or two away from where I live a few years back where you could've gone and done a lot of interactive activities like voice acting and such, but I wasn't able to make the trip down there at all during the time it was set up. >.< |

A little too far for me to go, I'm at the opposite end of the state. I'm glad though that they can have something like this. Gives an opportunity for people to check it out.

Sigh...after living in Napa for 27 years, they finally have something cool like this. I live in Sin City these days, so this trip is a bit long. Now, if they had Akemi Takada there, I'd show up. I've got something for her to sign...
