I've really never been into manga, just anime. I was thinking to take some time off my hands by indulging into some good stories that can be displayed through manga. I want a good, clever story that is wildley entertaining. Something that has a bit of everything.
I have watched Death Note, and currently watching Naruto; so those two aren't options. I'm currently reading Monster, and will continue to do so. Anything that may relate to one of the three is something I would like to read. It dosen't matter the genre, just something that YOU find to be very entertaining, and is a must read for any manga fan. |

I'm still a fairly new reader as well. Although I haven't read over 15 series, the first series to get me hooked was Mx0. Its a shounen that differs from others. The protagonist is in a magic school however he can't use magic himself. Intelligent and somewhat physically strong, he uses strategies/bluffs to get himself out of dangerous situations. Its actually quite entertaining and clever how he manages to get through his problems. He isn't totally defenseless though, he has a limited unique ability given to him which nullifies all magic in a small area. My favorite school life series with a very well liked cast and strong character relationships. The only thing I didn't really like was how stereotypical the main character falls in love with the heroine. Mx0 has some well done artistry and is actually pretty funny.
All in all, Mx0 has 99 chapters with a median ratings of Excellent and is ranked #126 on ANN. Some situations are somewhat difficult to follow but manages to compensate with cleverness. School life is fun and funny to follow but has some ecchi fanservice that get annoying sometimes, this goes down alot later. Actually I was hoping they would make an anime adaption since it finished recently. At the end of the series, the protagonist only finishes his first year of magic school. Although the ending was forced/rushed because it got cut from from weekly shounen. Damit! that still pisses me off! but the ending was satisfying and leaves it open for a sequel. |
