I wouldn't have been surprised at this, but the release was solicated(sp?) with Japanese audio. To be more specific, a Japanese 5.1 audio track. To make things worse, the final release of the disc still has the 5.1 audio track listed on the back, but it's no where on the disc to be found.

Information came from World's Finest Review of the Blu-ray release. To be more specific, here's what is said on the site:

Quote:
Sound Quality:
English: Dolby Surround 5.1
Spanish: Dolby Surround Stereo
Japanese: Dolby Surround 5.1*
German: Dolby Surround Stereo

* - Japanese 5.1 track is listed on disc packaging, but is nowhere to be found on the disc itself.

Alternate German and Spanish audio is included as well, but the Japanese 5.1 track promised on the back cover is nowhere to be found. Not sure if that was left off of all editions of the film or just the Blu-ray release, but nevertheless it’s completely absent. A real bummer, I actually was genuinely curious what it sounded like.

Rather suspicious if you ask me...

Hmm.. that is rather disappointing. But for BATMAN, I'm only going to watch it for Kevin Conway

Why would the shorts have a Japanese-language track when they were all written in English, by American writers?

They were only directed by Japanese animators. The project isn't exactly like 'The Animatrix.'

Maybe just so they could have a Japanese track like they could have other language tracks.

That was a screener copy, maybe Warner realized their goof? But I have a feeling Warner will release it with Japanese at some time or another. This could just have been an oversight on Warner's part.
