Not to say that Death Note is high art by any means, but don't compare it to trash like M. Knight Shamalamalan movies. He should have been drummed out of Hollywood after "Signs", the worst movie I've ever seen in my life (and I've seen "Hudson Hawk").

The final three episodes are pretty exciting, though. I can't wait to hear Brad Swaile's performance as Light's madness intensifies.

Oh, and in these episodes Naruto causes a post-office mixup that could cause all sorts of hilarious war and strife

Oh god, I assumed you were kidding until I read the episode titles. Ninja's and the Post Office should not mix under any circumstances. I just pray that next weeks episode does not focus on Naruto's trip to the DMV.

reflects upon the strange circumstances that led him from being a snot-nosed chess genius to a masked revolutionary with magic powers

Now granted I have been accused of being impatient, but isn't episode 9 (of 25) just a wee-tad-bit early for a clip show? Or hopefully just a summary from a week or two back when we learned his backstory.

All of the previous imagery was figurative, mind you.

Hallucinations of being visited by family ... the horror! We forgive you now.

Shu, the leader of a rag-tag group of Japanese Role Playing Game stereotypes with assorted magical powers and such, infiltrate the enemy's hideout and discover a machine with the power of capturing the shadows of children and turning them into deadly weapons. Because those are the most deadly shadows of all, apparently. After 18 your shadow isn't good for much; you should just accept it for what it is. A shadow.

Shouldn't the leader be the one calling the shots? Anyway, at least the goodies can all go home now secure in the knowledge that Nene is not turning the stolen kids into soldiers. Just a quick snip ala the Golden Compass (only without the dreadful two hours of bad adaptation.)

Brian is begging you; give him another chance! He can change! He can clean himself up, stop drinking, stop borrowing all your money, and stop letting his old roadie friends sleep on the couch!

But then who would scare away the bedbugs?

In Japan episode 8 was followed by ep 8.5, a clip show of the events thus far. But Adult Swim will be skipping that & going straight to the proper episode 9.

Yes, I've been waiting for this filler ep! Anime hyper If only because the idea of a ninja mailman is the most absurd idea the filler writers ever came up with.

Brian didn't mention that Spirited Away was airing on Ovation TV this weekend. Here's proof:

Uh, he compared it in an extremely favourable fashion.

Also, while I agree M. Night Shyamalan's movies are horrible, making fun of his surname is an even more horrible response when he's one of very few India-born directors in the Hollywood system. Just sayin' ....

I look forward to Death Note's end because of Light's Swimming Lessons! "WATER RESISTANCE IS HUGE!!"

I'm a little sad about death note being over cause light has to be one of the best shounen main characters in recent years but I am interested in what they will replace it with. I will once again suggest Haruhi suzumiya or Lucky star (It would be nice to see ouran high school host club on tv but that's not Adult swim's style right)

"Moribito- Guardian of the Spirit" is the next Adult Swim anime series, but don't expect it to replace Death Note right away. It's expected to start airing in late August.

Haruhi would go over well I expect. It's a great comedy series that plays strongly on absurdism and anime cliches. Ouran is a generic harem so shojo that it burns. I just can't possibly see AS going for it. Not to mention that Haruhi seems to have a much, much higher degree of popularity across a wider demographic.

This, of course, has nothing to do with the fact that I loved Haruhi and could barely tolerate 5 minutes of Ouran.
