I think Prince of Tennis is one of Viz's hiatus series, along with Hikaru no Go, MAR, and Full Moon. They have no plans as of now to release any more, although that could change whenever they feel like it.

Sadly, yes. In December Viz put the show on Hiatus, with no announced return, in December. I haven't heard any official word, or rumor, from them about when, or even if, it will return. -t |

I think the official word had something to do with sales, and I believe that Viz still has the license for these series that are in limbo.
It seems clear that Viz doesn't think that the current market can support non action/adventure titles with all of their forthcoming titles being shonen non-sports titles. Their current line up is primarily Bleach, Buso Renkin, Death Note, and Naruto. I'm sure that the titles that went on hiatus can't compete with titles like Death Note and Bleach and it seems that Viz is playing it safe by only releasing series that are a guaranteed sale. To make matters even worse they have made classic non-action titles like Maison Ikkoku and classic shojo titles like Please Save My Earth and Ceres out of print. This is even more frustrating since they have the rights to Nana and Honey and Clover but don't seem to have any intention on releasing either television series. I ended up buying the 11 existing Hikaru no Go volumes during the TRSI Viz sale last week and the 7 volumes of Full Moon during the Viz sale before then (in January) since I'm a bit worried that these volumes will also go out of print. I began watching Full Moon and sadly I find this series to be quite entertaining. I'm not as sad to see Hikaru no Go or Prince of Tennis (I like the three DVD packaging idea) disappear, but hope to see them eventually picked up again. |

Probably won't help much, but it doesn't hurt anything either. Your call.

You know, in the time it took you to type that question, you could've easily gone to the site and looked for yourself.
