I have just finished the 9th volume, and have a question: Why does Light give Sidoh the Death Note?
He says, "we can continue the investigation as long as we have one," but isn't the existence of the 2nd death note that Misa is using a secret from the rest of the investigation team? That is the notebook being used as "Kira". Is there a 3rd notebook at this point? |

so i did a bit of digging and found a summary.
basically, there are 3 notebooks, since Light took Rem's when Rem died and lends it to the the Japanese task force as Kira after Mello gets the one recovered from Higuchi. It is weird that he wouldn't ask for it back (as Kira), though... I went back and reread the volume, and things make much more sense
