That's cool I'll for sure check out the streaming episode, wonder which one it is. Can't wait for the box set, this is a show I'd love to have on DVD to be able to watch anytime.

Kind of a strange promotion as it's been streaming on Adult Swim's website for months now! Anyway, the more free anime online, the better. Just need some more Japanese companies to catch wind of this (other than GDH).

Much like the english version, the humor in the Japanese version was extermely crude and sexually perverted. The only difference between the Funimation version and the STILL RUNNING TV Asahi Japanese version is that most of the western pop culture refrences are updated in the Funimation version. Plus in the Japanese version, the character Maso is called "Masao" and Georgie is called "Kazuma". Come to think of it should'nt ANN change the rating to "Mature"? Because this anime is NOT for kids! Come to think of it I just read a translated version of the onibus manga published in 1990 and it's definetly NOT kid friendly!

In Japan, Crayon Shin-chan is a show the whole family can watch together, much like what the Simpsons is for Americans. It may not always be kid-friendly, similar to how the Simpsons doesn't always have appropriate material for American kids, but it's still family-viewing. FUNi does mature their dub up a bit, but don't forget Japanese programs for all ages can get away with more things than American programs do.

You know, I bet you anything many retailers were confused on the release dates because I remember tracking the first Shin-Chan DVD set since September of last year when it was originally slated to come out. From the September I had it pre-ordered on Amazon they changed the release date SO many times. Eventually I just canceled, heh.

Got both it and One Piece Seson One, Part One this past week. I'll get to them after I finish watching ADV's Macross (Up to Episode #23)
I watched the Japenese-language extra of Shin-Chan and I found it to be a bit dull.

Still, don't you normally leave it in both to keep the purists quiet and to show them why a complete rewrite was needed?

No sub. no buy. I can't believe dub-only DVDs are being made in this day and age.
Oh, FWIW, Crayon Shin-chan usually tops the list on polls of programs Japanese parents don't want their children watching.

I'm not sure how'd they'd even throw in the sub version considering the dub episodes are composed by cherry picking vignettes from the originals.
It's unfortunate, but for the price it's being offered at I'm not going to complain.

Full episodes have been on muchmusic.com's axs for awhile. I like the idea of having some full episodes online since it's a pain to miss it on tv. Also, it allows people to see if they want to buy it.

That's what I was trying to tell Nebs.
I read about Crayon Shin-chan way before Funimation got the license in an Anime book and it discribed some of the things Shin does that are NOT for children.
