Live action Negima? Come on Kodasha/Del Ray, that is really embarasing, even for Negima. There is no way this show could be any better than the manga or even the anime.

Is Japan so desperate for money they make drama shows for interesting anime titles?

I'd point out how much is wrong with this post but I'd rather just sit back and laugh... oh wait, this is ANN. They won't like that.

Okay, Del Rey has nothing to do with this first off. Second it's widely agreed upon that the Negima anime was overrated and overall meh. In fact, some people agree that Negima can never be adapted into a TV format be it anime or live-action without screwing it up. So far, they're right IMO.

And Japan actually gets good success in making dramas of existing manga. GTO was an enormous hit in Japan. I think Nodame Cantabile was too.

I did not know they made one, either. I wonder how good the spells and effects were, if they even had them.

The whole world's doing it. Think of how many movie and video game adaptations to comic books that have come out over the years. This doesn't automatically make it a bad thing though.

If only in the occaisional so-bad-it's-good sense. Like the blatently obvious tailing effort in the "Secret Date" episode. Or the creepiness of randomly adding a bondage aspect to the Mahora Idle (isn't Enrish great?) contest.

Nobody does. It wasn't fansubbed. Fansubbers are burnt out on the Negima franchise, and from what I watched, it's basically the same show as the manga. Plus side: it's a pretty good adaptation. Minus side: been there, done that.

Now that's what you call quality lip-synching. Rolling Eyes I stopped watching 5-10 minutes into it and began to again wonder why people like Ken Akamatsu.

I think it's great and all that they are streaming that episode, I just wish it was bigger than my thumb.

IMO, Japan excels in the animation... but severely lacks in the live action department. (Of course give or take a few exceptions on both accounts)

I can see why it was unaired.

Has anyone seen this?Does it cut away to them being Idols every other segment,or is it just for #26?

Yeah, because derivative adaptations are the best judge of a writer.

But not judging Ken Akamatsu's work on the basis of derivative adaptations could be problematical since I kind of get the impression that everything Ken Akamatsu writes is a derivative adaptation of an earlier work by Ken Akamatsu... Wink
