Oh man, that sure was one hell of a first season. Every episode was just crazy over the top and fun to see. Lots of laughs, a bit of seriousness here and there and making use of some tropes in hilarious ways. Truly not a moment of boredom. The harem has become more of a family than anything and judging by the season 2 announcement and the final minute or so 5 more girlfriends are on their way.

The show worked because the insanity felt consistent, and for the most part not mean. Although I would say off the bat that it had one kind of mean part, which was the older female teach that kind of felt like she was dehumanised for her age and assaulted male students. Could have done without that part, or at least something could have felt less icky. All the same with that I kind of liked that the last member of the harem we got in the first season was a milf, a mother of one of the other girls, as problematic as it sounds. Signs also pointed to her being more openly bi. We also got some nice crossdressing and some inter-harem making out.
I had become kind of done with harems in the last several years, but enjoyed it here. I do think it is a bit of that feeling like a family thing, and also not feeling too serious, like Date A Live. A lot on Rentaro too, who is like the exact kind of ridiculous harem lead needed to make this work, being all loving.
My rating will be Good (7/10), worth seeing, and would be fascinated if it manages to hold itself together going into a second season, where it looked like we got quick hints at the next girls.

Yup, the start of the second season is just as charming and lovably hectic as the first one. The first half was more of the show being silly (what even is the 4th wall?) and once more it showed that everything can seemingly be solved by kissing. Hakari is also still very much a tad too thirsty. The second half is about a new entry to the harem with eternally hangry Kurumi. She is still a bit thorny but the upcoming food fight should remedy that.
Good to have the show back, it is a dumb fun turn your brain off time.

Four episodes into the second season and there are currently two new girlfriends who have been added to the family and events wise there were a food eating contest and lots of wet maids... it really is more of the good old 100 Girlfriends craziness.

Nine girlfriends in and I am pleasantly surprised to see that they all have a distinctive personality and look. In most other harem shows the girls usually have barely any personality to speak of not to mention looking very similar. They also keep breaking the 4th wall like there is no tomorrow.

Season 2, Episode 6 (Episode 18)
The baseball game was really fun. I like that they suddenly introduced an entire team of dinosaur themed girls, coming from a Jurassic High, I guess implying that there is an entire high school that may be similar themed. And the episode had fun with that team having sports anime like power moves, which they have to explain and pose. And then the harem team had their own shounen style power up when the trope of doing it for Shizuka was invoked. It was kind of called out when the anime bullshit started coming into effect and was just allowed.

That was indeed some lovely and completely over the top fun. Everything from power ups to a complete lack of logic was present. There was even the tragic backstory that had to be resolved. I respect that 100 Girlfriends knows what it wants to do and goes for it without holding anything back.

It is amazing that so many episodes and girlfriends in the show still feels fresh. With that I mean that every family outing, reaction to a new girlfriend and the chaos resulting from that still feels unique thus far without any repeats. We will now likely get some sort of beauty contest and with that more insanity.

I knew that we were getting a "narcissist" character this season, and we got her kind of added onto a group date that they did a fake out that she would be earlier. They do say that confidence is attractive, and there is the camp factor I am finding in the sort of character to congratulate her suitor for being so lucky as to be able to date her.

She is surprisingly not annoying or unpleasant though. She is very secure of herself but she is not mean to others and as shown she does in fact work hard to be able to boast about her beauty. Episode 8 was also rather wild when it comes to the kisses.

The show has had many crazy situations thus far but the worldwide hair invasion of episode 9 was something else. It was never truly serious but boy was it a wild ride. In the end it was solved like every other problem in the show: with a kiss.
