Yah, my enjoyment for this show is still very low-key and borderline, but this week was an improvement over last week IMHO. My problem is, I like basketball girl way better than Mona-chan, and I don't think that's supposed to be the point.

You missed out on the cleavage, er planking competition between Mona and Asahi.
Poor Asahi will never get married since others have seen her accidentally exposed pantsu.

I know it is being done for laughs but as of episode 6 I kind of pity Kuroiwa a bit. The man gets into one mess after another due to several thirsty girls and he can't even rest in peace when he is sick. Development wise Mona is starting to be a bit more honest with her feelings (or more like being forced to) and Asahi is still charming and knows what she wants, I suspect you are supposed to like Mona less since she still has some growing as a person to do.

Welp, the show must be doing something right, or I must be doing something wrong cos I'm still here. I do think Asahi's been way better at bringing in some fresh than Mona's fan-girl. And we still have one OP girl to go.

Bad news: The "harem" grows from two girls to eventually four.
Of course Kuroiwa should have gone to a boys high school, but that would not make for much of a story.

@Piglet I think the monk-in-training being sent to acclimate to/resist the world and its ways works in this anime's favor, at least a bit. Medaka hasn't really demonstrated a whole lot of personality here since he spends most of his time quietly grunting, but kindness comes through, and he's much less annoying than those harem rom-com protagonists who seem subhumanly dense or bizarrely cowardly because he has a legit reason for not pursuing things.

Episode 7 did not make me feel bad for Medaka thankfully, not too much anyway. I get that if he would have gone to a boys only school that there would not have not been a show but boy do some of the episodes make it seem like a nightmare if you happen to catch the gaze of Mona. Anyway, episode 7 was more of Mona trying to trap Medaka though I did like the second half since that was a nice bit of chaos.

They've already had the school festival, and they've already had the cold episode. This episode was like a variant of the "Let's all try on bikinis for the beach trip" trope. I sense a trip to a hot springs some point in the near future...
Still curious about the brown haired girl in the OP.

As of episode 8 I am not sure if any progress has been made. Medaka is still horrible with girls, Mona is still going for the panty shots and such while still not getting closer to figuring out her actual feelings and Asahi is having no luck getting close to Medaka proximity wise. That is not a complaint btw, the show is amusing enough but boy is it static.
With the end of the episode a new girl seems to be joining the mix but I doubt that she will shake up the routine all that much.

Tis true, instead of making progress, they seem to be just throwing new girls into the mix to start the cycle over again. But I'm still enjoying it well enough too.
I'm thinking the brunette is a childhood friend just based on the title of the next episode. I think it would be more fun if she was Medaka's friend - it could be funny watching the other two flounder without a legit reason to stalk block her, and it would make it more believable if she winds up pursuing Medaka too considering it could have been a prior thing. But Medaka went to an all boy's school and has monk aspirations, so they'd have had to be friends pretty early.
The girl also has some kind of accent. She didn't say enough for me to really get an earful, but Mona-chan has an accent in her internal monologues as well. At the very least, Mona-chan probably didn't grow up in her current area.

It's actually mentioned several times by Mona-chan's self-introduction at the beginning of several episodes where she says that she's from Osaka and has been in Tokyo for a year.
The character introduced at the end of the episode is Mona's friend. I went back and watched some scenes from the episodes at the beginning of the season and you can see a picture of Mona together with the new girl in Mona's bedroom.

Episode 9 introduced Tomo and boy is she a welcome addition. She is daring and not at all shy which allows her to be blunt with people while also acting when she deems it necessary to get things moving. The situation has been very static so far and Tomo is the perfect answer to get things rolling, she will force Mona to realize her feelings and even force Asahi into action too if she does not want to be left behind.
I honestly wish she would have been introduced sooner.

Yah, Tomo is definitely a stirrer. Pot stirrer...shit stirrer...I'm not sure she cares which as long as she's mixing things up a little bit. And the romantic stuff aside, it's kind of refreshing having somebody who Mona will drop the cutesy act around. This is starting to turn into a real farce as opposed to a vaudeville act (you know, one person and a straight man or dummy).

Welp, Tomo didn't bring quite the amount of friction I was hoping for. She basically settled into the role of wingman...er, wingwoman...this episode, which didn't really change up the dynamic much. And the object of everyone's romantic focus remains a grunting doormat not capable of much other than an "I guess so" or "sure" for the most part, though he did put his all into the daring conversational gambit of "What about you?" this episode.
I think most of the dramatic focus is supposed to be Kawai-san's struggle to admit she likes the poor doorknob, and it's a fairly transparent struggle with a foregone conclusion. It's hard to put too much emotional stock in a relationship where there has yet to be a conversation more than five consecutive lines.
That said, I've stuck with this series so far and it's been okay, certainly not bad enough to be one of those shows that I abandon at episode 10.
