Anyone know if JNC has made any comments yet on licensing the rest of the Slayers catalog yet?

I have been keeping tabs because I've been waiting to read them once omnibus volume 6, the final volume of the original main story, released, but I haven't heard literally anything.

It's 2025 and Kanzaka is giving us new Slayers content. We are truly blessed.

I wonder if there will be a new Slayers anime...
Naomi Ozora sounds very similar to 90s Megumi Hayashibara.

Megumi Hayashibara came back to voice Ranma, so I would imagine she'd be back for Lina if there's more Slayers.
I've said before that now seems like a great time for a Slayers revival: More accurate adaptations of classic material are in vogue, Slayers novels weren't fully adapted to begin with, the major original voice actors are still active, fantasy anime is on top, there's been new novels since...I keep thinking we'll get an announcement at any point. Surely! C'mon!

I love this series as a kid but I'm afraid it could get the same effect as the Orphen remake which I found boring despite liking the JC Staff seasons.

Gonna be honest, Megumi is already showing her age when it comes to voice acting - she can still sound young when she is talking slowly, and calmly, such as for character like Rei, or Anna Kyoyama, or Ai Haibara - but give her an energetic character like Jessie (Musashi), and everything becomes obvious.
There was some Slayers collaboration 2-3 years ago, and one could notice that she isn't as young as she used to be.
As for other characters, dunno, I remember when I was doing Slayers marathon around 2010 (fun fact: I was the one who added most Slayers characters to MAL database back then) - I watched everything from the first series, including OVAs, and specials, to the Slayers Evolution-R - once I reached those last 2 series in late 2000s, Amelia's voice actress Masami Suzuki was already showing her age by that point, and that was 15 years ago.
It's sad, but we ARE already at the point where most legendary seiyu of 90s, especially women, don't really fit their old roles anymore.

Plus, DND/fantasy-RPG animated content is booming right now. It's a perfect time to add Slayers to the mix of Delicious in Dungeon, Frieren, Vox Machina, etc.

I can never say no to more Slayers!

She might be showing her age a bit more but I still think she could do another season of Slayers as Lina. She did a great job as Ranma in the remake.

If anything, it's all the more reason to make more Slayers now than wait any longer.

This is so exciting!
Also— reboot. With a good English dub, better animation, and no filler. A more direct adaptation of the novels would be great.

In the long run, it would simply be better to just reboot the whole thing with young voice actors.
There are already some other remakes where legendary seiyu were replaced, like Fruits Basket.
And thinking about it now, even those last 2 Slayers seasons felt were more like just reunion, than actual sequel to what came before.
Btw, the whole voice actor thing aside, I just think that when it comes to Slayers, it is such a missed opportunity that they haven't continued to make more anime adaptations both in 2000s, and 2010s.

I couldn't care less about that. All I care about primarily is wanting Lisa Ortiz, Veronica Taylor, Crispin Freeman and Eric Stuart to return. I've never watched Slayer's subbed and I never will.
Any English release of more Slayers anime absolutely requires them to be a part of it, or otherwise, honestly, don't even bother. Don't want another ADV Slayers situation, and I sure as hell don't want another Ranma 1/2 2024 dub situation.

Absolutely god no. Slayers absolutely does not need a reboot at all. That is a horrendously awful idea. No pointless retreads of the same material all over again. And seeing what a huge disappointment the Ranma 1/2 Remake was with doing the same thing, that just proves why we don't need a rehash of the same thing all over again, but worse. New material adapting the recent light novels or don't bother.

So basically just reunite the same 100% perfect cast they already have.
LadyUranus wrote: | no filler. |
A real Slayers fan would remember that their comedic fun side arcs between the main ones was always actually the BEST parts of the classic anime. Slayers did "filler" better than any other show ever did.

No. Just no. Useless and redundant characters like Luke and Millena were removed for good reason. They really didn't contribute anything except for reminding us again why Shabranigdu is bad, after the first time they defeated a piece of him. We never needed that point dragged home to us twice, and we sure as heck didn't need a really prolonged, and excruciatingly dragged out case of a party member turning bad guy to hand-deliver us a plot point for the second time that we already knew, that took forever to even bother. The Slayers anime shifted things around for a reason. The same reason that Lord Of The Rings needed adaptation from books to film to cut down the things that didn't work cinematicly.
Season 1 and Next already made all the right choices. Redoing any of that would be horrible in episodic format and would never work. Not even if you had the length of 4 seasons to make all that padded out redundancy work. S1 and Next together already did a perfect job of reorganizing the story into a watchable and condensed form without losing anything narratively important.
Also as I said, I don't trust any anime directors today to reboot Slayers all over again. Not after seeing Ranma 1/2 2024 be such and unenthusiastic, watered down bore despite it's grand promises. It would also be terribly redundant and useless to do anyway. The new novels are right there. Either pick the spot where Try left off to adapt those, or set them after Evolution-R.
Either way, Slayers needs new material, not a watered down version of what was already near perfect the first time, and doesn't need to be diminished with a soulless retread of things that already exist that people should stop being lazy and just go check out. That does not necessitate the need for fixing a few tiny animation errors, or god forbid turning it into a frankenstein monster like Dragon Ball Z Kai.
