I guess we're not getting a Laws of the Universe Part 3?
Also this breaks their 25 year streak of releasing a movie every 3 years since 1997, this one is coming a year late |

Probably due to the pandemic. |

Haven't checked out any of their movies, probably because of the groups' reputation...

Considering the big-named voice actors involved, I wonder if they have any idea if what they're making is Happy Science mumbo jumbo. Like, are they being duped?

Everyone in Japan knows HS. There is no secret. Actors know what they sign up for… a job. Not in HS but as atheist, HS is as legit as any other religion, new or old. |

It's all a job to the voice actors, in the end. They make a living from doing voice work, so that means that they occasionally have to do work for stuff that they may not necessarily agree with. Even the big name seiyuu don't always have the ability to say "No" to stuff they're offered, and I can fully believe that they were offered these roles for this movie specifically, rather than the traditional audition process. |

Shame on that group for tricking people into thinking it's going to be a Studio Ghibli film.

You'd be surprised. Putting aside that probably not everyone knows about them, celebrities are often more ignorant than most imagine them to be.
So…not at all. |

The Mother's Basement series on Happy Science anime are some of my favorite videos ever on YouTube. Looking forward to the inevitable new entry for this!
The death of Ryuho Okawa may have also been a factor. RIP? |

It's probably also worth nothing that it's not rare for people to sign up for a project without knowing what exactly it is. "Hey, want lots of money? We can't tell you exactly what it is yet, but here's a script with only your lines in it." A group of geocentrists infamously got a bunch of scientists in a geocentrist documentary (and duped Kate Mulgrew into narrating it) by doing a combo of this, manipulative editing, and giving Kate Mulgrew a script that never really says what the document is about. |

RIP Laws of the Universe 4 and Dragon Mommy?
Roman Polanski or Woody Allen had no issue booking stars for decades, sometimes only having to pay scale, until they became some of the main characters of MeToo. The idea that anyone could be "tricked" after 3 decades of this is laughable at best. The same actors would cash checks from Scientology or Charles Manson if the pay was worth it and Happy Science will have no issue keeping this money-laundry going as long as they are allowed to operate as a whole. And what more can we ask for? Hayao Miyazaki wished he could make anime as entertaining as them. The anti Battlefield Earth. |
