I wonder if this manga will ever get a US and international release outside of Japan/Asia region given that a lot of Sonic manga don't get official English translation & release. Meanwhile, back in 2020, IDW's Sonic the Hedgehog comic got translated and released in Japan, and it not only sold so well in Japan, they have to re-printed Vol 1 in Japan because of high demand. The IDW's Sonic comic did so well, that Sega Japan used the characters from the IDW comic series to be used in a Japanese safety promotion. I want to remind you that Sonic the character, and the franchise as a whole in Japan doesn't have a high fanbase compared to the US and western fanbase, and this is the same Japan where American comic book/graphic novels don't sell well in Japan. So for a western comic based on Sonic to sell out in Japan is just crazy and just blow the minds out of western fans of the franchise. If you release most or all of the Sonic the Hedgehog manga in the US, I think it would sell out too in the US market.
Hell I wouldn't mind if IDW could do a Sonic the Hedgehog OEL manga for both US and Japanese market. Just get Ian Flynn (Sonic comic writer) to team up with a Japanese mangaka/illustrator to do it and I think it could do well in both market. |
