Wow, Blue Exorcist made it; I know the last cour didn’t. Impressive comeback, especially since the series really has gotten better lately.

Oh ho ho, glad to see Chris covering Ave Mujica and the potential insanity that will bring among the ANN readers (though go watch MyGO first before jumping in)!

The only title on the list that gives me pause is Beheneko: The Elf-Girl's Cat is Secretly an S-Ranked Monster! which I dropped after 1.75 episodes. I do not envy MrAJCosplayer's future efforts in charting the ins and outs of elf girl horndogging her pet kitty.

I so wish You and Idol Pretty Cure had made the cut. Mirai Days couldn't be helped; it's not simulcasting (yet). Still, nice to see My Happy Marriage and Honey Lemon Soda!

Pour one out for James Beckett and Momentary Lily - I hope he can expense his migraine medication.

I'm quite surprised to see that Beheneko (the season's most blatant fan service title) made the cut, and a little surprised (but not at all disappointed) that Welcome to Japan, Ms. Elf did, too. Weekly reviews for the former should be. . . interesting.
Of the ones that didn't make the cut, the one I'm most disappointed about is Magic Maker, since I thought that one had a particularly interesting angle. Can't say I am surprised, though.
Also pleased that Guild Receptionist made it, though given the generally positive reactions to that one, it's not a surprise at all.
Not in the least surprised that AD was the top vote-getter. Since it's not paired up with Frieren this time, it has singular status as the season's prestige title.

Great list, Beheneko does make frown a little bit in that it is anything but the best isekai of the season and that is excluding Tama being groped and prodded on a weekly basis. As for James.... good luck mate.

Good luck to Christopher, too, whose predecessor who was the biggest Hyakkano fan around, and brought a passion few can match.
Time to do my thing!
Of the 45 series in the Preview Guide, 23 failed to make the cut:
- Anyway, I'm Falling in Love with You.
- Aquarion: Myth of Emotions
- Baban Baban Ban Vampire
- Bogus Skill ((fruitmaster))
- Even Given the Worthless "Appraiser" Class, I'm Actually the Strongest
- Farmagia
- Grisaia: Phantom Trigger The Animation
- Headhunted to Another World: From Salaryman to Big Four!
- I Left My A-Rank Party
- I Want to Escape from Princess Lessons
- I'm Getting Married to a Girl I Hate in My Class
- I'm Living with an Otaku NEET Kunoichi!?
- I'm a Noble on the Brink of Ruin, So I Might as Well Try Mastering Magic
- Ishura Season 2
- Kinnikuman: Perfect Origin Arc Season 2
- Magic Maker: How to Make Magic in Another World
- Medaka Kuroiwa Is Impervious to My Charms
- OKITSURA
- Possibly the Greatest Alchemist of All Time
- Promise of Wizard
- Sorairo Utility
- The Daily Life of a Middle-Aged Online Shopper in Another World
- Unnamed Memory Act.2
Of these, the ones with the most members currently listed on MyAnimeList are:
- 66K -- I'm Getting Married to a Girl I Hate in My Class
- 52K -- Medaka Kuroiwa Is Impervious to My Charms
- 45K -- Headhunted to Another World: From Salaryman to Big Four!
- 40K -- Possibly the Greatest Alchemist of All Time
- 40K -- Bogus Skill ((fruitmaster))
Of the series that did make the cut here, the least popular ones on MAL are:
- 12K -- Ave Mujica - The Die is Cast -
- 14K -- Momentary Lily
- 16K -- Tasokare Hotel
- 18K -- The Red Ranger Becomes an Adventurer in Another World
- 21K -- FLOWER AND ASURA
Of course, a season with a GoHands anime is a bit of an anomaly for these comparisons.
Once the Your Anime Rankings charts start, we'll be able to see what the second tier is, the shows that weren't popular enough to get reviews but still get enough votes to be scored on the charts.

I'm surprised mirai days isn't streaming right now. Toei USA post the trailer a month or so ago. So I thought they it would have been a sure thing.

It's not an isekai, the mc is from the same world before the reincarnation.

Fair point, I make that mistake on the regular due to fantasy almost being equal to isekai in my head.

Zenshuu is more of a prestige title than Apothecary is.

Most of what I wanted to see is getting covered, my only disappointments are Aquarion and OKITSURA not making the cut. Welcome to Japan Ms Elf making the cut was a nice surprise, and hopefully that and Blue Box help offset James's upcoming crucible.

I am curious to see whether a procedural show like Ameku Takao's Detective Karte (Ameku M.D.: Doctor Detective) is even suited to ANN's style of reviews in the first place. The episodes so far haven't show that much interpersonal drama (conflict yes, "drama" no) between the ongoing cast, and without that I am not sure what a weekly review can really analyse beyond "This week's medical mystery was good" or "This week's medical mystery was bad".
Also, will be interesting to see what Kennedy's opinion on the procedural genre in general is, given that they weren't one of the people who wrote about the series in the preview guide. Best case scenario they're familiar enough with House M.D. to have recognized the "it's not lupus" reference in Episode 1.
