As always, thanks Harmony Gold for being horrible IP sitters and preventing the original from being streamed with literally everything else. Like the average person browsing Hulu will be able to subject themselves to FB7 but not one of the best parts of the franchise. Their distaste for making any money is truly boundless.

I don't know for sure if the existing dubs of II and Plus will also stream on Hulu. Are they streaming on Disney+ in any country that has Macross there?

Huh, Frontier and Delta didn't get screwed over. That's nice. Shame that there's little chance they'd get dubs since Sony bought out RightStuf.

I'm glad this is finally coming out which seems to reinforce my theory Disney was waiting for approval to put it on Hulu. Macross Plus and Frontier are the best to watch and the easiest for newcomers to get into but all the shows are worth watching and don't sleep on Macross 7. I'm also that one fan who really likes Macross II.

I kept looking for "coming to Hulu in Canada" because I got used to that bait-and-switch.
Too bad Disney is still shy about putting anime on Disney+.
I hope the physical copies are coming this year, besides Macross II.

Reporting from Canada. No Dub for Macross Plus or Macross 2. Everything Macross is Japanese Language Audio with English, Japanese or Chinese Subtitles.

Excellent, I've been waiting for this. Now I can finally watch the Macross series I haven't seen before.

I can hardly believe we've actually got 98% of Macross available to watch in the West.
Now I guess the big "white whale" is the original SDFM and Do You Remember Love.

Frontier and Delta released on bluray boxsets in the us? It might have happened before Klekner sold RS to shittyroll/sony but I can almost guarantee it'll never happen now because they don't give a damn about either series. Again your best bet for either series is simply import the jpbd sets used, Frontier (original bd release) can be had for $50 or less, Delta (again the originial bd release) can be had for $130 or less. I paid $40 for Frontier and $120 for Delta. The movies for both series are really inexpensive too.

The "now" part of what you wrote is correct, but both of those had been available before in the US.
Until very recently, Amazon video had the original series subtitled in English. Those streaming rights got revoked after these other licensing deals emerged. It's not on Amazon now.
The original series had also, at one point, been streaming on the Pluto anime channel, along with subbed versions of Southern Cross and Mospeada. It's not broadcast TV or cable in the classic meaning of "on TV" but that is basically what they were doing.
None of the above got any particular fanfare that I saw.
The DYRL movie has also graced the US in the dubbed Bionoids version which at least did make it to broadcast TV back in the day. Not sure it counts today but it did happen. Just not now.

Does this mean Harmony Gold is slowly losing its grip on the franchise or Disney is really that powerful?

Are we so certain those series aren’t coming? I imagine with everything already on Crunchy’s plate, and the fact that they acquired a slew of unreleased titles from Nozomi, means we cannot know how long the wait will be. Especially considering the franchise’s notorious rights issues. If anything, this news is a positive sign that the Macross behemoth is slowly being worked on by the parties involved.
I get the cynicism with what is likely going to happen with Dirty Pair and Zan SZS, but Macross they are not.
