Now we can have someone license Cardcaptor Sakura and give it an actually good dub.

I think the realistic option would be Discotek picking up Cardcaptor Sakura and release the series on Blu-ray with both the Animax dub and Nelvana dub.

Cardcaptor Sakura is 70 episodes long. No one's going to go through the trouble of dubbing that show over, at this point, and it's amazing that NIS America was even able to include the Animax dub, as those are pretty much NEVER allowed for North American release.

As for NISA's releases all going out of print, this was inevitable as the company hasn't really been in the anime industry for many years now, outside of keeping these specific releases in print. However, I highly doubt some of these titles will go without ever getting license rescued for too long. I absolutely expect to see Cardcaptor Sakura, Toradora!, Kimi ni Todoke, & maybe The Eccentric Family re-released by another company within the next five years of NISA's licenses fully expiring.

Maybe Bunny Drop, too, though that will always have the manga's controversial ending hanging over it, even though all of the adaptations stop before that point.

I've been saying this for a while, have Crunchyroll get it and re-dub with the Clear Card cast.

That's a shame. I remember their limited/collector's editions are pretty nice.
By the way, can someone reprint The Pilot's Love Song, please?

I would really like us to forget the Clear Card cast existed lol....

That Syaoran casting was pretty unforgiveable.

That would be Discotek, but I don't see that happening, considering The Princess and the Pilot has yet to sell out its limited print run. Despite that low price, it flopped.

Don't wait too long to snap it up because Discotek titles last about, oh, 5 minutes before going OOP. Be nice if they actually did a decent sized print run for once.

Probably not a good idea. The vast majority of what will sell (possibly as much as 80% or 90%) sells in the first few weeks to a month of issue. For the publisher it is good if they can dispose of most of the print run during that period. Best if they can sell out. Only larger companies can afford to hold a lot of back stock. For smaller companies, a back stock messes with their cash flow and they get taxed on the inventory every tax year. Reprinting runs into the fact of minimum print runs. They need that much interest to warrant one.

No doubt that's all true but it still sucks from the perspective of a consumer who either doesn't want to act the second a title comes out or who isn't aware of it until its too late. I mean, it's great Discotek gets titles that otherwise go ignored but the speed with which some of their stuff goes OOP is kind of a pain in the ass.

Why do we even have these companies in the 1st place? They have done nothing good.

Sad news. Hopefully someone will get the licenses soon and release the titles again at some point.

I hope this means someone will rescue the license for Katanagatari, though I’m not holding my breath.
