I had just watched the episode and went here to lighten up a bit. Nice try, me. |

I know nobody's seriously asking for an anime coordinator, but Smurky and I were talking about trying to find good anime combos a while back.
In my opinion, after a show like last episode of Dan Da Dan, trying to watch something totally happy and fun like Bofuri just to balance out that haunted feeling won't cut it. I'd go with something like School Babysitters instead. It has enough sad moments that it doesn't feel totally irrelevant when you've watched a show about horrible loss, but it slowly brings things back around to a happier place. |

Personally, when I encounter something like episode 7 I don't want to pair it with anything. My anime session is done for the day as I let it sink in. And Edjwald, I can't BELIEVE you let the chance to refer to yourself as an anime sommelier pass by...

Hey, if I have any fantasies about running around with some cat ears, My Hero Academia sunglasses, and a Solo Levelling faux leather jacket over a Snack Basue tee shirt while being hired to tell people what anime to watch, that's between me and my therapist....
(What?!? No, that wasn't oddly specific...) |

Episode 8 was another great one. We had romance, plot progression with a ball being re-attached and the creepy aliens with scissor dicks are back. The romance bits were hilarious in large part due to Aira making it into a Twilight like romantic tale (she has a vivid imagination). The ball bit was hilarious and granny is now really part of the gang. Aliens wise they seem just as disturbing as before though they now have a gig boxer and mini godzilla helping them (nice lazor).

Man, anything goes in this show, huh. I was actually right to think that that was really Loch Ness (...right?). But man, that was a very different Loch Ness. |

Episode 9 was more absurd chaos in both content and the style of animation. The latter parts almost felt like a weird swimming pool attraction with laserlights being provided by Nessie (who actually helped by taking out two of the aliens). Given that all the (shown) aliens are now dead I assume that there will be no more for a while.
As for that final scene... good luck explaining that away. |

I don't know the technical term for a fetish about naked and half naked teenagers running around while aliens try to probe and excise their genitals - and I'm not sure how those aliens having needles and scissors extending out of their own groins plays into it- but whatever kind of philia that is, it was on full display again. Not saying that's a good or bad thing, just noting it with a kind of dazed aftershock.
The idea of the high school turning into a water dimension was cool though it was hard to follow the internal logic - this wall and this floor can be swum through, but this ceiling is solid, and this water is Sponge Bob water, but this water will drown you, and all of it is green lit so that it's hard to determine boundaries, okay? Now have fun with it! All of this was also accompanied by the usual loud screaming and frantic pace, but I think I've gotten acclimated to that sort of thing by now. It was still a bit annoying, but it wasn't as annoying and disorienting as it was the first episode. I think the disorientation added more to the attention than it took away, and I did have fun with it. By the way, I've definitely added Sponge Bob to the list of spiritual influences on this shows' creators (along with Puella Magi Modaka Magicka and Wonderland Egg Priority. Just the way the boxing robot's eyes looked so much like Mr. Crab ought to nail that one down. I've also acclimated to how the romance is as loud and cartoonish and full of screaming and overreactions as the fight scenes, I think. For me, this show is like one of those amusement rides that whirl by in a blur of loud sounds and flashing lights and screams, but I still find myself willingly getting back in line to experience it again. |

Episode 9
Welp, once again Edjwald has snuck into my study, looked over my notes and then rushed back here to post them as his own thoughts. Either that or he invented a time machine, saw my post and then went back in time to beat me to the punch. In any case skullduggery is afoot. I kid, I kid, although my thoughts are very similar with the possible exception I may be experiencing a tad more irritation at all the yelling and freaking out than he is. Damn my failed attempts at Zen... So I wonder if Aira-head's outbreak of Acro-Silkyness is going to cause her to accuse herself of being a demon? I'm thinking not. |

Okarun's situation reminds me of an SNL skit with Pete Davidson from a number of years back. The premise of the skit is that Davidson is a 16-year-old high school who had sex with two of his female teachers. The teachers are on trial and Davidson is being questioned by their defense lawyer. It's clear from his answers that he thinks that, far from this being a terrible situation, it was the most awesome thing that ever happened to him. If Okarun was smart and cool (which he isn't) he'd milk this for all it's worth... "Yeah, that's right, the two of them were all over me... what can I say? The babes just can't resist all this fineness, 'yo."

I want to say that episode 10 was a nice ''calming down after a hectic battle'' type episode, yet the show is so hectic that even the calm episodes are pretty frantic. I liked a lot of the character interactions in the episode. Aira has now joined the gang and had a solid bit of character development. The boxing alien also got some development with a whole backstory to boot and a cow abduction as a conclusion. We even had two new characters with the queen nurse as another unique addition (I assume that the guy at the end also joins the group given the OP).

Speaking of strategies for how Okarun should handle the situation, he totally should have pointed a metaphorical finger at all of the bully boys in his class and told the scary nurse that the bullies had stripped them and left them in the halls to embarrass them.
Then, after the bullies denied everything and inevitably dragged Okarun off to some hidden location to beat the snot out of him, making sure there were no cameras or witnesses in the process...Turbo time. Then, the bullies could totally destroy whatever credibility they had left by claiming that Okarun turned into a monster and kicked their asses...heh. :::::::::Adjusts glinting glasses:::::::: Actually, I have an idea for a new original anime about an anime consultant for hire. Premise: An anime fan develops the power to jump into anime worlds and advise the protagonists on how to deal with their problems. "Ummm....it's just a cold." Maybe screaming and giving your punch a new name doesn't count as a strategy...." "Well...I don't understand it either, but from the way she's crushing your face into her breasts, trying to get you to sign a marriage contract, beating you physically every time you talk to another woman, and sneaking into your bed naked in the mornings, I think she may be into you....." Edited to touch up that last one. |

Episode 10
And so the tradition of depicting school nurses as perverse freaks of nature continues... Looks like Okarun now has some real competition for the fair hand (and other body parts) of Momo. Childhood friends, eh? In anime terms, that means they are virtually married. |
