Yeah, it is nothing more than a fun spin-off but it helps to fill the large void since the first season aired.

Hmm, I am not sure what to think about me kind of wanting a Mokke hat, I will avoid the Mokke juice though.

For what it's worth, smurky, I think you would look absolutely smashing in a Mokke hat. Might want to drop a few hints to family and friends as Christmas approaches.

Jokes aside (though I do want some Mokke merch to be honest), the colorful look and the Mokke are parts of why I love the series so much. With that in mind I am very much looking forward to the next season in January and the second season of the spin-off that just finished was a welcome snack to keep me sated until the main course.

Agreed. These shorts have been useful in reminding me who the various characters are but I still think I will rewatch the first season as prep. And heck, may as well re-watch the eight episodes of After-School, too, since they're only about 10 minutes long. I love the kandy-colored goth look of the show.

Less than 2 weeks until the second season finally starts, it really has been a while.

It has been over five years (the first season started airing on january 10 2020) but we finally have a second season. The show is still as charming as always with the distinctive look and the characters being amusing/quirky. The first episode starts off with a re-introduction and that is probably a good choice given how long it has been. Afterwards we get a new wonder in the form of the clock keepers. I have to admit that I did think that Aoi might be one given that she is always the one introducing the mysteries and thus being a little sus.

The clock keepers themselves interest me most right now in that they are more than one entity (thus there might be strife between them). I also wonder about Akane-kun given that flashbacks are shown of him in younger years, supernatural entities don't age right?

Anyhow, I am really glad to have the show back and sunday is a strong anime day for me.

Season 2, Episode 1

Yay, it's back! I rewatched Season 1 on the Blu-ray I own and I'm glad I did. I am totally up to speed. The brief recap would have been useful, but there's nothing like being fresh on the whole thing. I had remembered how much I liked the visuals, the humour, Nene's adorableness and the other fun characters, but I had forgotten that the show has pretty impressive story-telling chops both on the episodic and serialized level. I wonder if we'll learn more about Hanako-kun this season... specifically why he moided his twin bro. Enquiring minds want to know.

The show comes on at 5:00 am local time in my territory so it'll always be waiting for me when I wake up on Sunday morning.

Well, now that sure went a fair bit different than I expected it to. The time situation was in fact resolved in the second episode and it did not even require fighting, a calm talk and a bit of candy was enough. I do have to say that Mirai is a cute dumb menace and Aoi-kun sure got tricked into being a clock keeper/errand boy (he is also a die hard simp).

The big revelation sure was something though, Nene has never been all that lucky but having less than a year left to live sure is a bomb to drop. It was interesting to see Hanako's reaction in that he acts like he does not care but it is more that he sees no way to change the situation and thus makes the most of the time left. Kou can shout all he wants and I am sure that he will try but changing fate is no easy task.

Episode 2

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Not my sweet little Nene!!! Arggggh, this is a revolting development. There are three different ways I can imagine the show handling this:

1) Some way is found to change Nene's destiny. This is the route I hope the show takes.

2) Nene does die, but becomes an apparition at the school.

3) Nene survives, but there is some onerous condition that is attached to that survival.

This show can be quite cutesy, but it has a tough core, too. I don't see them actually getting rid of Nene as a character, but I can imagine her being put through the wringer.

Episode 3 was very much the definition of bittersweet. The whole episode was Nene visiting previously shown characters and being reminded of how she formed bonds with them. That all happened with some jokes and signs of affection, be it in the form of a bite or a headpat. On one hand that made for a lot of sweet moments but all of those characters are shown to know what Nene's fate is and not being able to do anything about it. That goes for a very much struggling Hanako at the end too.

You are right, smurky... Episode 3 showed exactly why Nene is way too adorable to die... IT SHOULDN'T EVEN BE LEGAL!!! Hey Hanako, instead of moping around like a useless moon-calf, how about putting that apparition brain of yours to work and figure out how to save our darling???
