Recently,I got a couple of e-mails from Kickstarter. They were both on anime. One was about getting a Blu-Ray version of "Dagger of Kamui." The other was on the "Dirty Pair" English dub. With all the recent concerns about it,all I can do is give you my perspective and you can think how you feel about it. Although I haven't heard any news on the "Dirty Pair" dub since May,I wasn't too concerned about it.
I had plenty of other things on my mind and what goes on behind the scenes of an English dub or what's been going on with the company making it wasn't one of them. To me,they'd probably announce when they were going to release the dub in their own due time. Now,it's almost the end of August and I've been reading stories about how we might not see it at all. From my end,I'm not too worried. I think that the company may have hit a few unexpected snags with Crunchyroll recently acquiring it. It may take a long time to figure everything out,but saying the English dub might not be released at all and writing articles and screaming about broken promises when we don't know the full story yet is kinda silly to me. Yes,I know "Dirty Pair's" a popular anime,but I've also been waiting a long time for the TV show to get an English dub. I can wait a little longer. I'm not yet ready to throw a conniption fit,get some lawyers,deluge Right Stuff,Crunchyroll,and Kickstarter with angry letters,or getting placards,pitchforks,and torches and going over to their offices to yell and scream at them like a bunch of lunatics. Now,there are those who may think I'm being an apologist for Crunchyroll or that I'm being naive about all of this. Here's the thing. I'm just being patient. So,we haven't heard about it in a few months. There may be some good reasons for it. There may be a few more things to clear up first,but I'm not going to get too concerned unless I need to. There are most likely some hiccups the company needs to work out. The English dub will probably be released in it's own good time. That announcement for it may come soon. I've said it before. I've waited a long time for the "Dirty Pair" TV show to get a dub. I can wait a little longer for it. As for "Dagger of Kamui,"I don't know what to think. I'm not sure I'm going to be donating to this one. The main reason is the English dub. Right Stuff and Kickstarter haven't been too clear about it. I don't know if they're going to get a new uncut English version for it,use the previous one,or just do it subbed. I don't want to donate to this project unless I've got some clear info about it and so far,I don't have that. I'll wait a little longer and then decide. It's better to do that,than jump in head first without any clear idea of what I'm donating to. I think that's the best thing for me to do right now. I hope that's how the rest of you feel about it. |
